Disgraced Former Penn State DC Jerry Sandusky (convicted child molester)

Wait until the huge ovation he gets Saturday. That is not gonna play well in the rest of the country. People that stand for him on Saturday will one day look back in shame, I would think. Especially when they have their own children and they put football in it's proper perspective.

My thoughts - if he's there on Saturday to coach - they should boycott the game.

I'm very curious to see how this all works Saturday. It's Senior Day, so I presume JoePa will be shaking hands/giving hugs to players as they take the field for the last time. What will that scene be like? Will some refuse? Will the crowd cheer? Boo?

Apparently tickets are being snapped up like crazy for this game. I cannot imagine they are being bought by anyone other than stalwart followers of Paterno.

Disgusting. If this happened at OSU, I'd feel the same way. Punish everyone who was involved that did nothing to stop this freak.

I love football as much as anyone else, but it doesn't trump humanity, or challenging morals. Like you said, these people supporting this will look back in shame because their perspective is up their ass at the given moment and not at the bigger picture.

1620 the Zone here in Omaha just reported that Joe Pa hired a Crisis firm to handle all his PA stuff?

Edit: I know this probably won't happen, but what if Bo Pelini walked out to midfield on Saturday and said that his boys weren't playing the game?

LOL

I am up in Philly now and the local guys said the players gave Joe a standing ovation after his announcement to the team.

sigh...when they get older and have kids they'll understand....I hope.

Well, JoePa is, after all, legendary. Everybody tells us so.

What follows is the dictionary.com definition of the word "Legend":
(boldface emphasis mine)

legend

leg end
noun

a nonhistorical or unverifiable story handed down by tradition from earlier times and popularly accepted as historical.

Synonyms 1. Legend, fable, myth refer to fictitious stories, usually handed down by tradition (although some fables are modern). Legend, originally denoting a story concerning the life of a saint, is applied to any fictitious story, sometimes involving the supernatural, and usually concerned with a real person, place, or other subject.

Antonyms 1. fact.

I understand that, and I just read pages 6 & 7 per your suggestion, and it details the apparent contradiction between the specificity with which McQueary alleges he saw and described the incident (he saw sodomy), and the vagueness with which Paterno and Curley allege the incident was described to them (he saw inappropriate behavior). I do think this apparent contradiction was something that was available through second-hand accounts, but this section of the grand jury report certainly reinforces (or perhaps more appropriately, "preinforces") it.

There's another issue I have with the human tendency to want to avoid reading those disturbing passages, and/or be squeamish when discussing these things.

If McQueary would have clearly told JoePa what he told the grand jury, that a naked Sandusky was anally raping a boy about 10 years old in the Penn State football facility showers; and if JoePa had clearly passed that information on (or allowed McQueary to be present at the Sunday morning meeting with the AD and VP to do so as the actual eyewitness), there would have been no doubt about the fact that they needed to have the police open an investigation, and they wouldn't be able to parse words or say they misunderstood what was alleged by McQueary, as they are now doing as they're contesting the legal charges against them.

So why wasn't McQueary at the meeting with the AD and the VP? Possibly because he was embarrassed talking about it. Possibly because JoePa wanted to control the flow of information in an attempt to cover up the incident and/or shield Sandusky, his longtime friend.

But not talking plainly and openly about what was seen by McQueary could be a possible factor in having allowed Sandusky to avoid investigation and abuse a few more boys between 2002 and 2009, so I'm not very keen on squeamishness.

Looks like it...

Paterno hires TMG

Embattled Penn State University football coach Joe Paterno has hired a Clarendon-based crisis communications firm to handle all future media requests. Paterno also announced his retirement effective the end of this season, as the sex abuse scandal involving his former assistant coach balloons out of control.

Scott Paterno, son of the embattled college football legend, tweeted Wednesday morning that all future media requests regarding the matter of Jerry Sandusky, Paterno's former defensive coordinator ? and once heir apparent ? who is now under indictment on 40 counts of child sex abuse, should be directed to Dan McGinn, CEO of TMG Strategies LLC.

An employee at TMG confirmed it was hired by Paterno.

.../cont/...

Edit: I know this probably won't happen, but what if Bo Pelini walked out to midfield on Saturday and punches Joe Pa in his withered sack

Kudos!

And the ironic thing is if he had been worried about the kids, and not his reputation, he would likely look like a hero right now.

I have read the presentment.

I have listened to the full Kim Jones interview.

There are reports of this monster attacking young boys going back to the mid to early 90's.

JoPa knew, the AD knew, the President of the University apparantly knew, and yet this fucking pieice of shit walked freely in and around these men for a decade doing what he wanted to do while all of them turned a blind eye.

There is a massive "protect our own" and "I don't want to believe it is happening" type of mentallity going on in State College.

Disgusting.

The purge hopefully starts tonight.

The guy brought young boys with him on team bowl trips, roomed with them, had them at team banquets.

I mean, McQueary, Joe, all of them must have looked across the room at team banquets and seen Sandusky sitting with some young kid - I mean, how the hell could they not DO something?

How many blind eyes can you have? The whole thing is just fucking mind boggling.
