I think that's the right way to handle it. This is far greater than the NCAA, and the NCAA shouldn't think that it is theirs to attack. Give it some time to let the courts and other legal mumbo-jumbo groups get in and hopefully shove some umbrellas up some asses (and then open the referenced umbrellas) before the NCAA goes in to determine what, if anything, should be done from the athletic standpoint.

I think that everyone understands that the NCAA's place in this line is way at the end. Given what is happening, there may be the chance that nothing is left for the NCAA to investigate... If it even wanted to try.

This is, as everyone agrees, on such a totally different planet. The only reason there are questions about the NCAA involvement is that it was coaching staff and athletic program property. This could have easily happened in an academic program as well... Where clearly the NCAA has no jurisdiction.

In the end, what ever justice is done... and it will pale in comparison to the violations, will be legal and civil.

OK, from the comments in this story, none of this is at all funny, but I couldn't help but chuckle at this response to this comment (bold is mine):

2002osu machine

When the hell is the Board of Trustees going to make an announcement? This story broke on Saturday morning (technically Friday night) and it's now Wednesday night.

Can the PR for this situation be any worse? Not a single aspect of this mess has been handled well - obviously the crime and cover up but how PSU has handled this since the story broke is as poor as I can imagine. We're a full five days into this disaster and no one from Penn State has answered real questions.

I still don't think there is any way that JoePa or McQuery are allowed to coach on Saturday. No one, let alone the people in charge of running a major public university, can possibly be that stupid to let those to men still represent their institution.

Well it's not like the BoT lives in State College I imagine...they had a conference call last night and are meeting in person today...I imagine an announcement will come soon. I'm willing to wait if they make some correct decisions carefully.

Buttttt it's senior dayyyyy. It would be Joe Pa's last hommmmeeee game. It's his last chance to walk in front of 100k screaming fans pretending nothing is wrong. It's just not fairrrrrrrrrr!

Actually, the PR could get worse. They could wait until the crowd has gathered at Beaver Stadium on Saturday morning to announce JoePa has been fired and will not coach the game.

OMG! OMG! OMG! I'm listening to HLN interviewing a Penn State student & had to laugh/choke out loud. The kid stated that they're all wearing blue on Saturday with white ribbons...in support of child abuse.
Gotta go see if I can on-demand restart that...Maybe I ddn't hear it right.
