Defensive Staff Next Year?

I don't see much of a difference, and I don't know enough to really have an opinion...The Durkin comment is what stuck out, and there was an obvious difference (to me) in the comp you made.

I can understand on the Durkin comments, but I tend to think that fans will overlook anything if it brings their team success.

Sounds like there are plenty of young 'uns on Coach Johnson's coaching tree.....maybe one of them can be convinced to rejoin tOSU as DL coach. Not certain of any recruiting chops, however. Since LJ hasn't confided in me what his plans are after retirement, move to Florida, stay in Ahia, etc. Maybe Coach Day could convince him to be an 'advisor' to the new coach - when and if he retires-, to help LJ wean himself off the day-to-Day grind (humor intended). Hopefully he can stock up the DL ranks before he pulls the plug. We all knew this was coming, just a matter of when. Whenever he steps down, he's had a helluva run, first at PSU, and now at tOSU. He's a great one, and will be missed. Go Bucks

Minny's DB coach, Paul Haynes(OSU alum and former coach) also had a player die during a practice at Kent St while he was HC, he's still coaching, and had 2 other positions after said death... Sonny Dykes had a player die while he was the HC at Cal, they kept him for several more seasons and he's now the TCU HC
And it was proved that there was no negligence from Durkin.

Jason Bitsko, the Kent player to whom you're referring, died overnight in his sleep, at his apartment, from an enlarged heart. Was not related to any sort of practice conditions.

Agree with diddy. Freeman should not hitch his wagon to Kelly at LSU. He should go with Fickell, OSU or bet on himself somewhere. But, money talks.

His best route would be to pressure ND into bringing in Fick as the HC. Then spend a few seasons as the DC, move on to a Non-P5 school as the HC for a few years and wait for the OSU job to open up. That is, if his goal is to get back to Columbus.

Either way, going to Baton Rouge on a gamble with Kelly is a terrible idea. Especially if you are wanting to build your name.
