DE/LB Thaddeus Gibson (official thread)

Kid has the potential to be real special.. I liked how we unleashed him late in the game knowing Wisky had to throw every down..

Im guessing he's still a little bit of a liability at DE, from a rush defense standpoint.. but as far as getting to the QB, he looks great...

The way he discarded the big RT on that sack was a thing of beauty

The reason he's not seeing more time is because he is playing a position currently occupied by a future first round pick. I think he's going to be a beast next season, especially once he adds another twenty pounds or so of muscle.

I wasn't able to see the game yesterday, but was Thaddeus getting minutes at DE or SLB. I fully expected him to take over for Grant once he graduated this year, but now I am hearing all this talk of him from Heacock about being a DE/LEO. Will we see a Thaddeus/Laurinaitis/Freeman LB group next year?

Pretty sure he's a fulltime DE (LEO position) at this point...

And yea, I know he's blocked by Gholston.. but at the end of the game there, he and Vern were both playing (I think).. To me it was obvious that he was playing cause Donovan was gonna be throwing every down..

Even though he's being bred for the LEO position when Vern leaves, I think he could rep at the other DE more, if they felt he could hold up against the run, and play the assignments at that position better than he does..

Im not knocking him, just saying that is probably the reason he doesnt rotate with Heyward at all..

Holy Crap :yow1:

That move (fake speed rush to outside, push aside with inside arm), is usually made by someone in the same ballpark as the OT, size-wise.

A much larger man ended up 15 feet away (at least) before he got his balance back. That is a heck of a lot of power, even when you consider that his technique was perfect.

Barrow? What, him getting blocked in the back? If the lineman engaged him 'frontwards', then Barrow spun to try and shake him, it's perfectly leagal for the O-lineman to maintain contact, even if it is in his back.

edit:
Oh! you mean Wisky's #78! Yeah, he was tossed!
