DE/LB Thaddeus Gibson (official thread)

Locker didn't get a first-round grade from Advisory Committee | ProFootballTalk.com

"That's the problem," the source opined. "McShay is clueless. Up until three weeks before the 2008 draft, he said that [Kentucky's] Andre Woodson would be a first-round pick. He went in the sixth and is out of the league."

Look, I'm not saying Todd McShay doesn't know the first goddamn thing about pro football scouting, but what I am saying is that Todd McShay doesn't know the first goddamn thing about pro football scouting.

Gibson, a fourth-year junior from Euclid High who redshirted as a freshman, might be more ready to go, though he said he was only satisfied with his performance this season, not happy with it.

"I really feel as though if I stayed another year, I would grow more as a player and more as a person and show more of what I can do," Gibson said. "Being at a place like Ohio State has been nothing but good for me. They made me who I am today. I learned so much from this coaching staff, so I'm not in a rush to leave."

Players wishing to declare for the draft must do so by Jan. 15.

We've all heard the "I'm coming back" story before.
Maybe, but we didn't hear it here.

We heard that Thad loves OSU, knows he can grow here, and isn't dying to get out of dodge.

That doesn't mean he's not leaving, it just means he can be happy here as well.

With the potential un-capped 2010 NFL season looming and the biggest factor, I would think, is the 2011 season may be a lock-out year. Any under classmen that are looking to stay in school may be looking at a lock out after their senior season.

I'm no expert, not by a loooooooong shot. But that has to weigh heavily on any junior potentially leaving early.:(

Sources: Gibson to enter NFL draft

Ohio State defensive end Thaddeus Gibson will forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL draft, according to sources.

Gibson likely will make an official announcement Tuesday afternoon. According to a source, he met with Buckeyes head coach Jim Tressel and co-defensive coordinator Luke Fickell on Monday to finalize the decision.

The 6-2, 240-pound Gibson played some outside linebacker at Ohio State but eventually transitioned to defensive end and came on strong during Big Ten play in 2008. He earned second-team All-Big Ten honors this fall after leading the Bukeyes with 13 tackles for a loss and ranking second in sacks with 4. Gibson also had two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an interception.
