DE/LB Thaddeus Gibson (official thread)

One more year would've boosted his draft stock enough to more than offset the cash he'd miss this year, but I guess he wants to strike while the iron is hot in his mind. He was a force on our DL and was key in our success the last two seasons. I hope he gets picked as high as he expects to be...

I wish him well and thank him for all he's done at OSU. Regardless of what round he goes in...that's still a chunk of money. I can't help but think watching guys like Rob Rose and Lawrence Wilson go down with the injury bug didn't influence his decision to go when he is healthy.

I agree and it seems that most draft "experts" do as well. One more year could have really improved his draft stock. However, I can't blame the kid for wanting the money sooner rather than later plus there is always the injury consideration. Good luck Thad.....are you sure though? :wink2: In all seriousness, Thad has been a great contributor on the field and stayed out of trouble off of the field, for that I am grateful. Best wishes.

Whats the bonus like for a mid second rounder?

1.2 to 2.x million range

Plus there is the salary - which for a 3-year deal nets typically 1 million per annum (which is not guaranteed, unlike the signing bonus).

Contracts for David Veikune or Everette Brown possibly indicative.

hey, can't blame him for leaving. it took me five years to get out of undergrad too, and man was i ready to be done with school.... and i didn't exactly have a huge multimillion dollar contract waiting for me.

i think we can all agree that thad's name is written all over that rose bowl trophy so you couldn't really ask for much more. thanks for the years thad and best of luck to you!
