Dayton Flyers (Official Thread)

Well, I figured since the thread is here why not use it:) for something. I am trying to think back and recall if Dayton ever had a series with Notre Lame and really can't recall one. Can you Flyer's fans filmy and if my memory is correct and, if so, why don't they play each other any more:huh: It would seem to be a natural fit almost like playing X. I. don't know maybe Dayton is mad because the Domers stole one of the Paxon brothers of the city.

Notre Dame won't play Dayton home and home anymore. Dayton has a hard time getting any BCS conference schools to play them home and home.

Well, here we sit at 20-2... We're entering a very key stretch though... 9 games remaining, 4 home 5 road. 2 vs. Xavier, 1 against Temple, Duquesne again, @ RIU... Tough stretch, but should send our RPI up the charts with some key wins...

I think it's totally realistic to end the regular season at no worse than 26-5. At Xavier, at Rhodey seem to be the toughest road tests... I really think we beat Xavier and Temple at the arena... That place will be as loud and packed as it was for the Pitt game last year... We will have a tough one at SLU, but we should win at LaSalle and Charlotte...

Lunardi's latest Bracketology... We've moved up to a #9 seed vs. Syracuse... UNC's the 1 in our region.

Glad to see we keep climbing the list...
I don't watch Dayton but I know we're some of their players are from following them during their prep years. I would be interested in your take on how you think Dayton/Ohio State would play out.

I see where old Joe has Ohio State as a #8 seed and if I read it right they are the last at-large team taken. Match up with Davidson:) and then UConn:(

Last at-large taken is PSU--see panel on the right of the bracketology page.

As for Dayton, that Marquette win is looking better and better by the week. Problem is, that's their only marquee win. They need at least a split with XU to start getting some national pub.

So what's the story with Utah St. then? They're 21-1, yes, but their schedule strength is ranked 50 spots lower and they've beaten a TON of nobodies... Only win over the RPI top 50 was against Utah who is 14-6... Yet they're still ranked in both polls? I don't get that... I'm not trying to attack you, just trying to get opinions...

The reasons that I thought Ohio State was getting the last at-large bid in Joe's mind was because the very next game would be against the #1 overall seed...UConn.

Still interested on how you Dayton homers:biggrin2: would think an Ohio State/UD game would play out.

Gary Parrish says:

Dayton has a better win (over Marquette) than any Utah State win, plus four Top 70 wins as opposed to Utah State's one (over Utah). Furthermore, the Flyers have 13 Top 200 wins as opposed to Utah State's eight, and that's because 13 of Utah State's wins have come against schools ranked outside the Top 200 and/or non-Division I teams. That's why the Aggies' strength of schedule rates 205th nationally, why their RPI is 40th (Dayton's strength of schedule rates 155th nationally, its RPI is 32nd). It's also why I'm skeptical of the WAC favorite, and why I don't understand how the coaches could rank them 22nd while leaving Dayton out of the Top 25, because though Utah State and Dayton both have suspect bodies of work, I can't see how anybody could look at the two bodies of work and conclude that Utah State's is more impressive.

We just need to do work on the road this week... Then we should be ranked heading into the huge matchup with X a week from Wednesday...

No argument here. Utah St. has no business being in the top 25. Certainly not over Dayton, who at least has one quality win.

3-0 game and the LaSalle color guy warns of falling behind too much

WOAT commentators

he was even bitching about UD making so many threes. Uh....maybe lasalle should guard someone. every one of those threes was wide fuckin open. My favorite line was "the refs are calling a pretty loose game and letting both teams play...that really benefits UD though since they play pressure defense" These announcers deserve to be T-bagged by a fat guy.

These guys need to spend some time working junior high games before they're doing A10 ones
