Dayton Flyers (Official Thread)

NC State is hiring the coach from UNC Wilmington, so if Archie leaves this year it won't be for his alma mater.

Dayton fell to Wichita State in the first round of the Dance.

Indiana might be a better fit for him with regard to recruiting. I thought maybe Illinois would take a run at him but they hired Underwood from Oklahoma State which I do not understand. If Indiana does not get him, maybe he will stay at Dayton and we can grab him after next season:biggrin2:

I'd prefer the Buckeyes win 30 games and reach the Final Four but if it goes as I expect then yes, sign me up for Archie. I really do NOT want him to end up at IU.

Flyers Hire Anthony Grant

http://www.daytondailynews.com/spor...-hiring-anthony-grant/lHhMFX9DPxf7EHNkcdZrVJ/

The University of Dayton announced the hiring of Anthony Grant as the next head men’s basketball coach Thursday.

Grant succeeds Archie Miller, who was the head coach for six seasons before leaving for Indiana on Thursday. Grant is the 19th head coach in UD history and the seventh in the last 70 years. He is the second UD grad to coach the Flyers. The first was his former coach, Don Donoher.

"I am honored and humbled to be the head coach at the University of Dayton," Grant said in a press release. "It's a great responsibility to take over at an institution that is so well-respected. Anyone you talk to in college basketball would say our program is a successful one, but the potential is here for so much more."

Bracketology: Why Dayton jumps up to a No. 1 seed after San Diego State's loss and how it can stay there

The Flyers have dominated the Atlantic 10 and have a better overall schedule and better losses. Dayton lost to Kansas and Colorado, each on a neutral floor and each in overtime. The Aztecs have better wins with victories over Big East regular-season champion Creighton, BYU and Iowa. It's not an easy call for the committee, and Dayton has to win out in the Atlantic 10 Tournament to stay there.

WTF, Dayton a #1 seed......:argh:

Awful news for Coach Anthony Grant and his family. Cannot imagine the pain, I hope he finds peace.

Friendly reminder to reach out to someone if you’re feeling “off” mentally. And if you’re good, it doesn’t hurt to check in on someone who may not be. A lot of people deal with a lot of battles while we float around on this rock. Worth doing whatever it takes to keep spinning while we can.
