Dayton Flyers (Official Thread)

What? No mention of the Flyers' loss to a very average Charlotte team? It's pretty clear that this Dayton team struggles on the road. It's going to be hard to earn a tourney bid if they lose more road games to the likes of Rhode Island and St. Louis (I think they will lose those games if their track record of losing at UMass and Charlotte is as good a sign as I think it is).

Pomeroy has the Flyers losing four of their remaining games. Charlotte is ranked only #164 after beating Dayton. Dayton has one quality win against Marquette and plays four of the five toughest games on its schedule in upcoming games. Pomeroy has them going 24-7 this year.

Still hanging on at #74 in the Sagarin predictor rankings (SOS #231) and #81 in Pomeroy rankings (SOS #226).

I think that the less than thorough douchebag just ejaculated in the Dayton Flyers thread.

Is this the type of remarks that this site likes? I find this and the stalking by an "administrator" who keeps interjecting off-topic remarks highly offensive.

There is no need to sugarcoat the chances of the Dayton Flyers here. Barring at least one win over Xavier and a win over Temple, they aren't likely to get an at-large bid to the tourney.

I am a die hard flyers fan and if you read previous posts, i have been very critical of this team. They are 21-3 but could very easiily be 19-7 or worse. It isn't a home vs. road thing either. UD has struggled to beat teams at home as well. (see 1 pt win over fordam, close game against marshall, etc.).

They are very inconsistent in the half court. If there D doesn't create turnovers, it will come down to the last shot...even against terrible teams. Greggory makes zero in game adjustments. He has random substitions which cause inconsistent shooting as well as really strange line ups at times(ie london warren, paul williams in the game at the same time with Chris Wright and Marcus Johnson on the bench). UD will have a 5 minute second half scoring lapse in every game....guarenteed.

Ud will lose to X twice....mark it down.

Dayton has always struggled on the road as long as I can remember. They came out flat, got out hustled and outplayed that day. Winning on the road in any conference can be tough. Marquette which is still the best win for any team in this state this year lost to South Florida on the road Friday night.

This end stretch of the season is going to prove what kind of team has this year.

UMass if you just want off of looking at the record would look like a bad team but they've got talent and are going through first year coaching issues. They lost to Xavier by 2 and beat Kansas at "neutral" site in Kansas City.

Creighton is a good basketball team. Charlotte is the only terrible road loss

He didn't specifically mention Dayton, but Joe Lunardi said this will NOT be a good year for the mid-major come tournament time and at-large bids.

Im paraphrasing here, but he said outside of the MWC, no mid majors have really competed as a conference unlike previous years. He thinks any team with an above .500 record in a BCS conference has a great chance at making the tourney over most at large mid majors.

Again, I have no idea if this directly impacts Dayton, but that loss to a pretty bad Charlotte team could not have helped. Obviosuly the win over Marquette carries some serious weight, so even with the A-10 coming up short against some of the big boys, I'd imagine Dayton is solid.

If Butler, Memphis, Davidson, Gonzaga win their conference tournys this will be all time down year for mid-majors
