THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

It has been almost one year and one month since the Blue Jackets took a flier on a young minor-league defenseman in the Montreal Canadiens system. Columbus claimed Ron Hainsey off waivers when the Canadiens, faced with a slew of injuries, tried to recall him from their American Hockey League club.
How has it worked out? Not so well for Montreal. But pretty darn well for the Blue Jackets, who play host to the Boston Bruins at 7 tonight in Nationwide Arena.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Coach Ken Hitchcock?s secondintermission speech to Blue Jackets players probably couldn?t be printed within the pages of this family newspaper. But only two words really mattered, Hitchcock said, and the Blue Jackets took those words ? "competitive composure" ? to heart for the start of the third period and, possibly, the start of something special.

First game of the year I was at...club level seats and it was AWESOME!!! What a game!

That game was louder than the Detroit game early last week. I was at the Detroit game but I TIVO'd it was well.

That was great to watch on the TV :)

The Blue Jackets have a legit shot at the playoffs as it stands right now. I hope they get there.

Very true...we had four tickets last night so we started off the night at Frog Bear and ended it at Bar Louie. Made for a rough morning.

yeah I personally think that the bottom of the West is pretty weak this year. Also, Vancouver, Calgary, Minny and Colorado (who has 38 points) will beat the ever-loving crap out of each other. Chicago isn't that good either. Neither really are Detroit or Dallas, but they are 16 and 15 points ahead respectively and I don't think they can make that one up. Under 10 points right now is a good spot to be in.

They need to finish this year like they did last year, and I think they are actually playing a bit BETTER right now than they were the end of last year too.

though in hockey its a lot harder to climb out of the standing with a points system. lets hope all goes well.

[QUOTE/buckeye89fan]Just wanted to say I FINALLY got my Blue Jackets authentic Rick Nash 3rd Jersey... It was worth every bit of 150 too!!! Those hockey jerseys are sharp![/QUOTE]

first NHL game i've ever been to... WOW! that was exciting!!! sat right in the 18th row right above the face off circle at the Jackets' end. the SH goal from Nash to Federov was outstanding, as well at the goal by Federov to tie it up with 23 seconds left...

they played pretty uninspired during the second period, but the coach really lit a fire under their arses at the 2nd intermission...

when they get Anson Carter back, this can really be a team to be reckoned with.
