THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

It was all in place for a partylike atmosphere in the Blue Jackets? dressing room last night.
The Blue Jackets had just beaten Vancouver 3-2 before 15,861 in Nationwide Arena, so frustrating the Canucks that all-world winger Markus Naslund ? a noted Jackets-killer ? took three whacks before finally splintering his stick over the boards as he left the ice. Majority owner John H. McConnell stopped by to congratulate the boys and wish them Merry Christmas. And the stereo blared at campus-party decibels.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

With seven healthy defensemen and only six spots on the blue line, Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock plans to platoon rookies Aaron Johnson and Ole-Kristian Tollefsen into the near future.
Johnson played last night and scored a goal against the Vancouver Canucks in Nationwide Arena. The plan is for Tollefsen, who was a healthy scratch last night, to play tonight in Long Island against the New York Islanders.

Columbus (13-18-3) at NY Islanders (17-13-3) tonight @ 7:00 PM

Surprisingly: In their history, the Blue Jackets own a winning record against just six NHL opponents and are unbeaten versus only one -- the Islanders. Columbus has six victories and one tie in seven meetings with the Isles, including a 2-0 road record. The last game between the clubs was a 4-3 shootout win for the Blue Jackets at home on Dec. 8, 2005.

Interesting article about possible realignment that would send the Jackets to the Eastern Conference.

I think that any realignment plan that takes away from Detroit and Columbus playing each other is a very BAD idea....it could grow into a professional version of Ohio State - Michigan and as Columbus is improving and as Detroit is now having to retool with the retirement of Steve Yzerman, it's going to grow into a rivalry.

Considering that the NHL is headed by a complete moron, that means it will happen. Just watch.

I remember shortly after Columbus was awarded a franchise reading an article about the CBJ moving to the East after 4 or 5 years.

I vote yes.

I'm of the opinion that they should go back to the OLD Divisons and Conference names.

Yet another thing Gary Bettman F'd up.

detroit has the first pick of what to do as they are the oldest franchise. anything would have to be approved by the board of govenors with 20 teams agreeing.

personally i see tons of options and one that i think makes a lot of sense is nashville to the se and pump up the caps to the atlantic. it makes sense. who knows lots of options and id be real suprised if 20 clubs will agree.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

UNIONDALE, N.Y. ? In Ken Hitchcock?s 33 days behind their bench, the Blue Jackets have had poor periods here and there but have avoided three in a row.
That changed last night, when they were flat to begin with and stretched their horizontal-ness to the point of losing a dimension. They were whipped 4-0 by the New York Islanders, and it was one of their three worst losses of the season. "Tired, tough stretch, back-to-back ? we can?t have these excuses," Blue Jackets captain Adam Foote said. "We?ve got to play better than that."

Yeah I'd be kind of surprised as well.

I kind of like the idea of an Ohio - Michigan rivalry in hockey. Better yet, it appears that the Blue Jackets are able to get people excited about it on a regular basis.

Jackets taught tough lessons in road losses

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

UNIONDALE, N.Y. ? The Blue Jackets got thwacked 4-0 by the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum on Saturday night and it felt like a wake-up call, in much the same way a 5-0 loss in Detroit felt like a wake-up call a few days before. With wake-up calls like these, the Jackets won?t be able to put their helmets on before long, for all the big knots on their heads.
"The other team was skating faster than us," center Sergei Fedorov said after the Islanders game. Fedorov doesn?t like it when the other team skates faster.
