Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

The season is still young but Richard said Davidson have to be a little concerned with the start after all the positive statements they made prior to the season beginning. If they do not make the playoffs this year, it will be very embarrassing for the organization to say the least.

I've been a Pens fan since long before the Jackets were born but I did live in C-bus for several years and I'm glad to see the two teams will be playing each other regularly now. Home and home this weekend, starting in Pittsburgh tonight.

This team doesn't have the edge it ended last year with. Granted they started out like 2-19-3 last year or something ridiculous like that (and ended 19-3-2 or something like that), but looking at the roster on paper, there is no reason this team should be struggling like it is.

Struggling doesn't begin to describe it. There isn't a scoring threat on the roster. The Rangers should have scored 8 or 9 goals. Bob was really good in goal, but that's about it for last night. Gaborik stinks and is just going through the motions and it's a contract year for him. This is when he's supposed to be lighting it up. Wisnewski sucks on D. So does Letestu. Umberger couldn't score in a $1 whorehouse with a fistful of $100s. I feel badly for Ryan Murray as that kid is going to be special. I just doubt it will be in a Jackets uniform.

Look for Todd Richards to be shown the door if they lose on Saturday. Look for Murray to be sent to Springfield to spare him all of the losing.

This team flat out sucks. Again. Who is the projected number one draft pick in June? That's where I'm starting to look.

They've had a pretty fucking brutal schedule so far. Losing to teams that are better is kind of expected for a team without elite scoring. The Jackets are not a finished product, so judging them 15 games into the season isn't a good idea..

 over-react much?

Seriously? How am I over reacting? True, I'm not actually looking toward June at this point, but other than that what did I say that was an over reaction? 6 of the 10 losses have been at home. This isn't a patient fan base nor should it be. We've seen this movie before. Slow start. Out of it by January. Then go on a little win streak and play themselves out of a difference maker in the draft. That's Blue Jackets hockey. If Richards gets a sixth straight loss tonight, the last three to back up goaltenders, it would not be unheard of for him to be fired. Kevin Dineen just got fired by the Panthers and he actually took his team to the play offs a couple of years ago. And is it unheard of for a rookie to be sent down because the team sucks? The only thing about that is that Murray has been one of the better D men on the team. Certainly better than the "big time" free agent signing Wisnewski. All we hear about here in Columbus is changing the culture. Well, this team is marching in lock step with the rest of the garbage teams that have played in Columbus throughout their entire existence.

EDIT Make that 10 losses. I was giving them too much credit.

They aren't going to fire Richards, get a grip man. This team was a borderline playoff team last year, and their FA acquisition this year hasn't even skated with the team yet. Richards is going to get a pass for a while longer.

Borderline playoff team without Horton, and battling injuries to Jenner and Calvert. Both of those guys were playing well before getting hurt. They are not a contender yet and that shouldn't even be discussed for a couple years. They're a low playoff seed at best this season.

This team has no fight, no heart and no scoring. They get two gift goals last night. Goals that if you watched every game for the rest of the season you probably wouldn't see again. Facing ANOTHER back up goaltender and they cough the game away. You won't see a worse decision than Johansen giving up the puck with 8 seconds left in the first last night. Gift wrapped break away to make it 2-1 after the first period.

I guess I am that negative fan, but I just don't think that Jenner and Calvert are the difference makers to turn this team around. Add to the fact that Gaborik (who wasn't setting the world on fire anyway) is out for a month and I just see this tail spin continuing. This team flat out stinks and if it wasn't for good play in goal they would be getting blown out of many of these games.

7-0 loss last night in Edmonton. I pulled the covers over my head after the second goal and went to sleep. Had no idea I would wake up to see that kind of score. Yuck. I don't get this team. They played an outstanding game on Sunday and then follow it up with that?

They had 14 shots.

There's having an off night and then playing like a junior team. Edmonton isn't that good, but it's clear the team never got off the charter mentally.

Umbie has to go, his cap hit is far too high for what he brings. And someone needs to start holding people accountable on the roster. Last year that was Vinny. I'm looking at you, Jack Johnson.
