Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

I have no problem putting Nash on the block. He's a terrific player, but can anyone honestly say that our record this year could possibly have been worse without him? In all of this franchise's history of losing, he's the only constant. It just seems it is time to part ways so the Jackets can move into full rebuilding mode and Nash can have an opportunity to play with a winner.

Whereever he goes, I will support him. But this is the right move. This team is going nowhere and it's time to shake things up drastically.

If Howson is smart, he'll trade him to the Rags and essentially restock the entire farm system while doing it.

Howson isn't that smart.

I'd take him on the Wings in a heartbeat though. It won't happen, but that would put Detroit right there for the Cup.

Could the Leafs be an option? Isn't he originally from Eastern Canada?

Howson is going to run the team even further into the ground, then be fired. It's hilarious and confusing that they're letting Howson handle this. A rebuild has to include the GM that made this disaster. DON'T LET HIM TRADE THE FRANCHISE PLAYER. LET THE NEXT GUY DO IT.

There are a few other teams that could offer better than what the Leafs can offer. LA, Vancouver, NYR are my three guesses. In that order.

That's the confusing part... to be honest, I think there's a less than 50/50 chance they actually move him and only are floating it out there now because of the lack of available impact forwards. The asking price will be high.

Ironically, if they move him early enough, Carter will be next. No need to flood your own market.

yeah but that's a Toronto/Grapes pipe dream. The Leafs are still a mess.

This was coming since 2008 though. The CBJ have neglected the farm system and making the playoffs barely that one year pretty much screwed them going forward. It's not entirely on Howson, but he's definitely guilty of some of it.

I've seen rumors where Franzen/Kindl/Brunnstrom and a 2012 1st are on the table from Detroit for Nash. That would give the CBJ their best player (Franzen), their 2nd or 3rd best d-man (Kindl, not that it's a good thing) and an uber-prospect in Brunnstrom.

typical Howson would be Hemsky and some other turds from Edmonton. Seems like the only guys Howson deals with are them. I would guess half the guys he has picked up have come from there or spent time there while Howson was there.

From Portzline...

Scouts on hand in Nationwide tonight for #CBJ vs. #STLBlues: TB, STL, DAL, COL, CAR, LAK, PITT, WASH (2).

All of these teams have some intriguing pieces.

I can't see Pittsburgh being a realistic player here. Too much tied up into Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Letang, Fleury and Martin. And Neal will be getting a nice raise at the end of the year.

If it were to happen, it would have to be based around Staal and Martin.. which actually makes sense...

Nash has been a great player and very constant for us since we got him. Another way to look at is this...we've had nothing but losing records and disappointment for 10-11 years straight (minus the one playoff appearance where we got swept) and the only constant through all of that has been Nash. Maybe Nash is really that hard to play with? I thought that once we got Carter, Nash would finally have his #2 guy who would compliment him very well. Obviously we've never had the perfect chemistry for our top lines.

I'm not saying all this is true, but it's just another way to look at it. I would hate to lose Nash, but if he truly is the problem, then i can part ways. If we do trade Nash, we better be getting some good stuff out of it. No matter how you look at it, Nash is a top 20 player in the NHL. I hope we see some moves before the trade deadline.

On another note...the team looked pretty damn good and well put together last night against the Blues.
