No heart my ass.
I was at that game, as I have been to all the home games, and that was the hardest I've seen the CBJ play in a long time.
I have NEVER seen a team want a game more, and not win...and yet even getting down by two goals twice, they refused to quit. Dallas' goalie made amazing save after amazing save. What more could we do?
The ONE outstanding part was Mason. He was bad. At one point he had given up 3 goals on 15 shots. And many of those shots were easy stops. He gave up 2 really soft goals...and then one that was a defensive screw up, that should have never happened, and was the only time anybody but Mason played poorly tonight. The first line was awesome. All the lines did a great job getting scoring opprotunities, while at the same time taking a ton of pressure off of Mason.
That was as easy of a game a goalie can have, except for that one turnover, which still many goalies in the league would have stopped, and yet...3 goals? What the hell. 90% of the goalies in the league would have only given up 1 goal that game. The rest maybe 2. There is no other goalie currently in the NHL that gives up 3 goals in that game. There has to be goalies right now playing college hockey, or in the AHL, that would have done a much better job.
I'm sorry, but Mason's time here in Columbus needs to come to an end. We need a new goalie, BADLY!
Mason has a 88.3% save percentage, good for 33rd in the league.
Mason has a 3.34 goals against average, good for 33rd in the league.
Only one goalie in the NHL has given up more goals this season.
And the worst stat...he is winless in six starts.
He does not deserve to start against Detroit on Friday. I don't care that our top two backup goalies are hurt, put Corbeil in there. Can he do worse???
