Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

You know, they should've won this game. They had some great opportunities. I came away from this game thinking this team will actually be pretty damn good offensively when they get used to each other.

The Nash/Carter/Prospal line is fucking ridiculous. That line is going to put up some serious points if they stay healthy. Their chemistry for it being the first game of the season was amazing.

I came away really impressed with Cam Atkinson as well.

If Mason plays as strong as he did tonight, the Jackets will be fine. The goals were on the defense. Tyutin had one awful play that kept the puck in the defensive zone and the Preds capitalized.

Kris Russell is not an NHL-caliber defenseman. Trade him while he's not worthless, because he's regressing. He's awful. I don't think he did a single good thing. I take that back - he leaped on to the bench when the Preds passed a puck toward the Jackets bench to try to get a too many men penalty. That was a nice leap.

Johansen was invisible, but that's not really unexpected for a rookie getting fourth line minutes.

Great crowd. It was actually a lot of fun to be there. Lots of scoring chances on both ends and some fantastic saves.

That turnover was awful. Good d-men in the AHL don't fuck up that badly.

They talked about how well he was playing in the preseason, but I've never seen it. The next time he keeps in a puck at the blueline will be the first.

At least it's hockey season. Oh, wait.

I need a new hobby. I think I'll continue to work on my bird-watching. It's way more peaceful than watching sports.

tonight, mason was stellar for 65 minutes (even tho he allowed 2 goals in regulation and in the shootout). the offense doesnt know how to put the freakin puck in the net. thats the problem! our defense was much more sound tonight than the first three games, but i felt like jim tressel was running the offense the way the third period turned out. you cant win a one goal game if you get 1 measly shot in the final period.

with that said, i believe this is a coaching issue. now whose fault is it? idk. arniel always preaches the "go, go, go" mentality, but that clearly wasnt the gameplan for the third period tonight. something needs to change. im not saying something major like firing arny, making a blockbuster trade, etc. im saying the answer is indeed in the room. they need to switch up the lines more to get more depth in scoring. we cant win with one line getting all of our points!

heres what i think just for forwards:
22-50-61
18-7-11
15-26-8/33
16-24-13

basically 2 1/2 scoring lines with solid depth.

Well, couple of days off to embrace the suck and then go to Dallas on Saturday to try to turn things around.

This was supposed to be the year and losses are mounting. I know it's very early in the season, but my concern is the fans. This town is ready to embrace anything with Buckeye football being bad right now. The Blue Jackets have a golden opportunity to bring the fans in right now and they are blowing it.

Let's see how these bums manage to ruin an otherwise pretty good day. I'm thinking a 5-1 loss.

Oh, good. Got the 1 out of the way early.

On the power something or other. Haven't heard of such a thing.

This team stinks.

I mean stinks.

It's not early anymore. They are bad on offense and pretty soon it's going to get to the point where the season is going to be over. Only team in the West without a win at this point.

Brassard could probably be moved for defensive help. They should go ahead and do that before they're out of the playoff race before even winning a game.

I don't know how many teams ended up making the playoffs after starting the season winless six games in, but I bet it's not very many.
