I don't know....until this trade I've not paid any attention to the NHL since the Wings shit the bed against San Jose...

Arniel's system uses d-men that jump up into the offensive zone. Other than Russell, they really don't have that guy either.

Just be glad they got rid of Commodeitdore....

Stralman might fit that bill, except that half the time he forgets to play defense...

and you know how I feel about Commie fucks

I think Stralman can be the centerpiece if he develops into it.

I'm wondering if the CBJ will be looking for a big name D-man once the season starts instead of the off-season like everyone expects. We'll see I guess....

Well, they have Carter, Brassard, Vermette, Pahlsson, Mackenzie, maybe Johansen, and Murray as centers. Wouldn't be surprised to see Vermette moved at all. Might happen before the season based on numbers alone.

Maybe, but I don't know if Vermette will bring the D-man they need....

Isn't Umby a Centerman too?

Plays wing too, I figure he'll play wing next year. But technically he's a center, yes.

I don't think Vermette alone will bring what they want, but package him with Moore/Savard/Goloubef/Filatov and the offer becomes much more intriguing. And heck, I wouldn't have a problem if the Jackets traded this entire draft to get actual NHL players.

(I didn't see a minute of any of those prospects last year other than Filatov, but I guess Savard and Goloubef have been very impressive. Many consider Savard the best d-prospect the Jackets have now)

I seem to be the only one happy to see Jake go. Not my favorite at all. Upshall and Carter instead of Jake and Rusty. I'm all for that. If Mason can get his head on straight, and we pick up a solid defenseman, then this team could be quite good. I'd like to see if our PP% goes up.

Also...I'm hoping that we can switch conferences with Winnipeg after next season. We'd have to be the obvious choice to move to the East. Will likely mean bigger ticket sales for the Jackets as well. Playing teams like Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Philly, Boston and Washington 4 to 6 times a year instead of just 2 would have to increase sales. The only draw we really get from the west is Detroit, and maybe Chicago.

I do like the prospect of Upshall and Carter breathing new life into this franchise, who SO desperately needs it.

Not necessarily. Detroit has been lobbying to go back to the East since the 90s. But of the candidates, I think the CBJ would benefit the most.

Upshall is a UFA and I don't think he'll be back.. would love to be wrong.

The Jackets apparently had a deal in place for Brian Campbell, but Campbell has a no-trade clause and said no.

BUT HE JUST MOTHERFUCKING ACCEPTED A TRADE TO THE FLORIDA PANTHERS!

This probably helps the Jackets in the long run though. Talk about an awful contract.. but Campbell is a much-needed puck-mover. Bad contract, needed skill, would've been bold. But I'm ok with him not coming to Columbus. Just shocked that he didn't waive for them and Florida instead.

2nd Round Pick (37 overall) CBJ

Boone Jenner
C
6' 1" 204 lbs (L)
Oshawa, OHL
25 goal, 41 assists and 57 PIM in 63 games at Oshawa.

"The phrase, 'I want 20 of those guys on my team,' gets overused, but it not only applies to Boone, he can be the poster boy for it. Boone does what it takes to win. He blocks shots, wins battles along the boards and is an outstanding forechecker. He wants to be first to the puck every time. He's solid on his skates and fights through checks on his way to the net.?
? Through the first two rounds of the 2011 Ontario Hockey League playoffs, Jenner was second on his team with 12 points (7-5--12) in 10 games -- the Generals were eliminated by the Niagara Icedogs in five games.

? He finished the 2010-11 regular season, third on Oshawa with 66 points (25-41--66) in 63 games, playing alongside fellow prospects Nicklas Jensen (No. 21 ranked) and Lucas Lessio (No. 46 ranked).

? Jenner was named to the OHL First All-Rookie Team and was a runner-up for the OHL?s Rookie of the Year after finishing second in rookie scoring with 49 points in 2009-10. He also represented Canada at the 2010 Ivan Hlinka Memorial and captained Team Ontario to a silver medal at the 2010 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

? He is the nephew of former NHLer Bill Carroll ? Carroll won four Stanley Cups, three with the New York Islanders (1982, 1983 and 1984) and one with the Edmonton Oilers (1985). His older brother, Leo, also played in the OHL (Plymouth 2005-10).

? An Elgin Middlesex minor hockey product, his first hockey team was the Dorchester Tyke Firefighters -- his family owns and operates a cattle farm in Dorchester.
