Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

link?
i was told he was on vacation and would respond on monday. but who knows. im sure he is livid. he called the flyers gm a few weeks ago to address the rumors, were he was assured no talks had taken place. then last week they met in person, he was told he was not going to be traded...

playing with #61 will heal all. carter has never played with such a dynamic player, nor has nash (outside of team canada).

Someone told me that Nash couldn't get in touch with him and he didn't respond to Umberger's messages. Found the Dispatch article and it doesn't seem like that was the case. There's a big fuss about it on a hockey forum I visit.. people are making up ridiculous scenarios about him retiring (lol) and not reporting. But yeah.. nevermind my comment, didn't read that article until just now.

Well, they flew to Philly to talk to him. If Carter has an ego, I'm sure that stroked it.

That's what I was talking about. Carter wouldn't pick up the phone and call Howson back so Arniel, Howson and Nash get on a plane and fly out to have a face to face with him. To me that's ego stroking.

That said, I'm psyched that Carter is going to be in Columbus and I hope he lives up to all this drama.

it was said by carter he would speak/meet with the team on monday. the only thing a person could have any sort of issue with is not releasing the "i played in (insert city) for (insert years), it was great, the fans were great, but i am excited to go to (insert new city)" press statement that the agent would have pulled from the filling cabinet.

the reality is that if the team didnt go see him monday the same jet would have swooped in to bring him to columbus to make the rounds at double eagle golf, muirfield, scioto, etc to show the city off...

this stinks of high heavens a la the adam foote saga. something either created our augmented by the beat crew to create some sort "rivalry" just as they attempted to do with the avs. it didnt work. with the jackets (and wings) moving west after realignment, philly would make some sort of rival, i guess...

Would be totally worth it, I figure he'll get around $6 mill a year on a contract. I really hope it gets done. I think he's better defensively than Ehrhoff and puts up similar offensive numbers. Portzline was thinking it would probably get done (I think he said 80-20 that it would get done - said both sides were excited).

Wisniewski said he'd check back with Howson (I can dig up the link if requested) before he made a decision one way or the other. I'm hoping that's to give the Jackets an opportunity to match.

I still like the Jackets' chances. Ehrhoff is off the market, so that's one less suitor. Chicago and Detroit have already made deals with d-men as well. Carolina re-signed Pitkanen. I also figure that the Jackets would've moved Wisniewski's rights if they couldn't at least reach some sort of mutual understanding. They must really think they have a shot.

Kaberle is also going to be available tomorrow.
