Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

I was talking with my wife's boss over lunch today. He's been a huge hockey guy his whole life and it's his opinion that the Stars have had the refs in their pockets for years.

Than again, he's a Sabre by birth, so he might still be a little angry about '99.

They really looked like a team running on empty last night, especially after the first period which they dominated.

They can shoot from the boards and outside of the dots all night long and the Coyotes will be more than happy to let them do it too. :shake:

Fighting words

Hitchcock carefully chose his words when asked if center Derick Brassard should have fought Dallas' James Neal on Thursday. Brassard suffered a dislocated right shoulder when the players grabbed each other to exchange punches. Brassard will have season-ending surgery in January.
Brassard initiated the scrap after Neal leveled Tyutin.
Hitchcock said players "cannot tiptoe around" when teammates are getting hit. He also pointed to Brassard's history of shoulder problems -- he had his left one surgically repaired two years ago -- and said the injury could have occurred almost as easily during a hard check.
Nash said he respected Brassard's actions to stick up for his teammate.

Columbus center Brassard to miss rest of NHL season

Ice hockey - Columbus Blue Jackets center Derick Brassard will undergo surgery for a dislocated shoulder and miss the rest of the season, the team said on Monday.
Brassard, 21, was injured during the first period of last Thursday's 6-5 shootout loss at Dallas shortly after scoring his 10th goal of the season.

It's not real smart to have your top center initiate a fight, dislocate his center, and be done for the year. I know the Jackets traded Jody Shelley; but don't they have a designated fighter that "goes into the game to even the score" when a Blue Jackets player gets blindsided?

I feel badly for those folks who paid to go to this game tonight.

The Blue Jackets are playing like shit. Sleepwalking through the first period and it's already 2-0 Kings.

the lack of energy put forth by the team was stunning. Hitchcock teams have never played like that, even the crappiest Philly team never sleepwalked through a game like the CBJ did tonight and against Phoenix too.

Hitch should have made them sleep in the locker room last night. Fucking embarrassing.

This team can't afford to mail it in with all the injuries they've been hit with. Plus it was a home game and the last game before an extended holiday break.

I don't know what to think about this team.

I do.

They are going to struggle to stay within contention. Injuries have a part in that, but the stunning lack of offense has again reared its ugly head for this franchise.

I wonder what the record for the lowest percentage on the power play is.....this team might break that.

Figures I talk about this team in bad terms (again) and they come out and look like Detroit when Detroit is on.

They dominated the puck and really controlled the play. They would have had a chance to beat everyone in the NHL today when they play like that.
