Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

no matter what yout hink happened on that replay it should not have come to that. pascal im sure is not happy with his performance. i was happy to see the team not "crack" and give up a soft goal after the overturned call. what needs to happen is take that out, punish phx this weekend.

brassard out a month with a sperated shoulder. so far this week the team has lost murray, okt, chimmer, brass...

Just heard Hitch on the radio. He said "I don't care what score they put up there, we won the hockey game."

What happened?

EDIT Never mind. I read the write up on TSN. Hitch isn't going to say something like that without being damn sure of what happened. That's a shame to lose a point like that.

heres hitchs post game comment.

“We won the hockey game. We won the hockey game. It was a good goal. I don’t care what anybody says, we won the hockey game. We outplayed them and we won the hockey game. They can put up whatever score they want down there, they can put up whatever score they want in the National Hockey League. We won the hockey game. That player did not kick it. All he tried to do was get out of the way of the goaltender.”

I don't what's most agonizing about the loss. Leclaire's performance? Brass getting himself injured fighting? The nonsense call from Toronto? (shocking, right? :roll1:)

but, picked up a point. thats what 14-14-4 for 32 in 32. muddling right around .500. I think 94 should be a safe number.

I'll take the point, no doubt about it, but.....they got an injured Stars team with a struggling Turco, and out-shot them by a dozen or so, but only got the 1.

62 points in 50 games left....

31-19?
29-17-4?
28-16-6?
27-15-8?

26-14-10?
25-13-12?
12-0-38? :slappy:

Reasonably, they're going to have to win at least 27 games of the 50, and that's assuming they can make it to OT/SO in 8 of the 23 losses.

I feel for Pascal, I do. It can't be easy to be the franchise goalie one year and then on the bench the next. And I know that the goalie psyche is far more....fragile.....than most other players', but an effort like that is very disappointing to me.

no doubt will have to play some good hockey down the stretch. look at the schedule. what they have 2 of the next 9 games at home? they have to play the wings what 4 more times?

maybe it wont be 94. with the cluster hanging around from 7-14 spread in points from 34-30. i mean this team is win sat out of a playoff spot. keep grinding, hit, get pucks in deep, traffic on net all those things.

sledding will get tougher without brass, dont let anyone kid you. klesla should be back sat or for the game the 23. torres expected to be back after the roster freeze.

roster freeze, will howie pull a deal post roster freeze? i tend to think if the team is milling around a few points above/below the 8/9 spot they have to. this years picks, maybe next years, who knows.

tenacity-commodore has stepped up a tad but this team still doesnt have that guy who is burying people in the corner. foote say whatever you want when he got you in the corner he wanted to kill you, your mother, your first born and beat you with his fore arm into submission. im not seeing that.

goaltenders-you make points. i know pascal isnt happy. but a points a point. take it and move on. its a vicious cycle hes been hurt and hasnt played well. its hard to play well without seeing much rubber and time. mase has played great. i think theyll level the rotation a tad when/if mason cools a tad. right now hes as good as anyone in the league. earlier in this thread i said maf, cary price type of break out. some laughed, i was dead serious. we have less than 5m wrapped up in goaltenders, im happy with that cap hit. i also think pascal can handle it mentally. hes a jokester and good kid, hes played jrs, internationally and ahl at high levels. but he needs to preform to get more time on the ice. i dont think you have a #1 at this point, for better or worse. i think the team feels confident with both.

right handed defensemen-you guys knwo how i feel.

centre-you go from having a developing top six centre and umberger who is back to playing weighty simple hockey and playing well to... umberger and ? will it be york up from cuse? or something else. who knows.

its all water under the birdge, spilt milk, bury the yotes and move on. these games are two important to drop one with a hangover.

Unfortunately that wasn't the only bad call or "no call" last night. The 2 quick whistles on loose pucks in front of Trucco. Both would have been a chance to get another shot on goal.

Also the trip that should have been called on us before the Nash break away who coincidently was tripped up at the other end.

I feel the ref's unknowingly decided this game. I think the fans of Hockey deserve an apology from the refs for not doing thier jobs correctly.

At least Hochuli had the balls to come forward an admit he made a mistake that decided the outcome of a game.

And how about the no call when one of the Stars players charged Nash in the corner in the 2nd period (which led to Commodore's first fight as a Jacket)? There were a couple other no calls of similar nature. Those officials let that game get out of hand.

i disagree, they missed some calls sure. but hockey isnt black/white. i can deal with that kind of stuff its happening face and on the ice. people in toronto had minutes to watch that, replay it. then they decided it was the wrong call and overturned it.

the trip you referred to is interesting as theplayer skated into the stcik generally speaking one of the hardest calls in hockey, granted they let the stars drag down nash after he won the foot race to it. i think if nash hadnt won the footrace to the puck that he never should have won, the puck should have easily been controlled by the stars and no advantage should have been gained.

the charging call, boll charges and leaves his feet on about every hit so whatever its hockey. i like hard checking physical hockey.

quick whistles suck but thats to protect the goaltenders, they missed those two calls. but id rather see a hand full of quck whistles a month than a broken arm from sticks whacking around in the paint.

on ice the game wasnt the best but not the worst of the season. that happens, i can live with that. in the warroom thats the part. thats what 4 very very interesting calls from north of the border this year? anyone remember the two pants incidents in back to back weeks what two years ago?

I was saying it all of last year - the reffing in the NHL has consistently degraded year to year and this year in no exception.

The NHL should thank its collective mighty stars that the NBA is around otherwise it would be the worst officiated pro-sports league (out of the big 4)
