they beat Oklahoma?QUOTE]

Only important 3 words you said.

OU was 11-1 that year and ranked #8 going into that game. The point is they beat them as a 7.5 point underdog. Boise was undefeated going into that game. They deserved to play OU and prooved it on the field.

11-2 with losses to 5 loss Oregon and 3 loss Texas. This was also the team that had to replace Rhett Bomar with a stop-gap, ex-wide receiver for a quarterback. This was not a great Oklahoma team. Actually, far from it.

Boise State has three undefeated seasons in the last five years according to wiki.

tOSU has one in the last 44, and even that was...just fuckin' barely.

The fact they've been able to do that says to me that there is no way in fuck that they play a tough enough schedule.

If I beat the shit out of an entire elementary school, it doesn't mean I deserve a shot at the belt.

I wont argue that Boise goes through the same week to week rigors as a team in the SEC. However, an undefeated team from the ACC or Big East would likely get a shot. Are we dismissing them too quickly?

Against BCS conferences the past four years:

Beat 10-4 Georgia by 5
Beat 6-7 ASU by 32 (18 points better than anyone in the PAC could manage)
Beat 11-3 Va Tech by 3
Beat 5-7 Oregon St by 13
Beat 10-3 Oregon by 11
Beat 10-3 Oregon by 5
(Only two of these games were at Smurf Stadium.)

Their 3 losses in that span were by a total of 5 points to teams with a combined record of 35-5.

Does that put them in the playoffs? No.

But I always enjoy trying to make these arguments.

I didn't think this was hypothetical...

Yeah and the Raiders took Jamarcus Russell...your point?

Bama was not an overrated 2011 BCSNC. Beat up the selection process all you want, and make fun of their in-bred fans, but the boys on the field had skilz, as evidenced by the recent draft. I can think of a bunch of things to call 2011 Alabama, but "overrated" ain't one of them.

As long as we get a chance to have better post-season matchups, this will be a step forward. There was a lot of angst last year that Oklahoma State didn't get a shot - and a lot of talk about how fun/interesting it would be to see the Poke offense go up against the 'Bama defense. I would have loved to see that game as a precursor to the National Championship game. LSU vs. Stanford would have been the other matchup, and another good game. If LSU and 'Bama win both games, who's arguing about the championship matchup being two SEC teams? Nobody, near as I can tell.
