College Football Playoff (2016-2017 Season)

There's not a ton if huge games in the championship round either

#1 Bama plays probably 20th ranked Florida
#3 Clemson vs Unranked VA tech
#10 Colorado vs #5 Washington
#6 Wisconsin vs #7 PSU

I'M pretty sure you can combine all the top 10 wins from this group after these games are played and it still won't be as many top 10 wins as OSU.
If Bama beats Florida ... and Virginia Tech beats Clemson ... and Colorado beats Washington ... and Wisconsin beats Penn State ... then the playoff teams will be:

1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Michigan
4. Wisconsin

This isn't necessarily for this thread, but does anyone know if osu is able to practice this week? Or are you barred from practicing this week before getting to bowl practice next week? That's the one detriment to not getting to the B1G championship, if we are assuming they still get into the playoff. With this young team, an extra week of practices is huge.

That, and Big 12 teams like oklahoma and oklahoma state delay their 12th game by adding an additional bye. Do they get an extra week of practice by skirting the rule of having 13 weeks (12 games plus 1 bye)?

I really hope that Washington gets the No 4 spot. Really excited to see if Jake Browing and co can knock off the tide. Thrown for 6000 yards the last 2 seasons and Chris Peterson is excellent in bowl games as an underdog. Don't think they will win as they probably don't have the horses up front, but it could be fun. I'd be more than happy to take on Clemson. I think ttun (even with speight) is a slightly better team than Clemson. That ttun defense was freaking impressive.

Liked and then Unliked because I do not want to play that team up north again. Yesterday was too special.

Not positive, but I'm pretty sure we're done with official practices, but I'm pretty sure they can go into S&C, and nothing is keeping them out of the WHAC to throw the ball around and watch tape. I'd like to see Barrett get on the phone with Whitfield and book up his month of December.
As to Oklahoma skirting the rule, we'd be allowed to have a week of practice if we scheduled a game for next week, but we would have to forfeit any opportunity at the BTCG any year we did that.

Yea I know they can do stuff on their own, but it's not even in the same ballpark of true organized practices.

True, and the O-Line need some organized practice. Defense is doing great and can take a week off. BUT I'm going to count any time JT spends away from Beck as a victory. He needs time away from the coaches. He needs to get out of his own head and just play some 7-on-7 and get some rhythm with our receivers.

I bet Urban puts Mick in charge of the team for the next week. Time for them to hit the weights and relax on film and contact drills. Besides, the coaches will likely be on the road for recruiting visits.

I think the Powers-That-Be would switch Michigan and Wisconsin. To set up a possible OSU/Michigan rematch in the title game or a Alabama/OSU title game. Better ratings and story lines.

CBS thinks the Bucks are "IN":

Bowl projections: Ohio State will make the playoff if the committee does its job

The Buckeyes have already done what is necessary to advance to the College Football Playoff

Even though Ohio State will not win the Big Ten, it is still a very likely College Football Playoff participant. The committee is not charged with putting the four best conference champions in the playoff. It is charged with putting the four best teams in the playoff. It has to judge teams based on their entire seasons, not just the conference portion of it. It has to consider that it is possible that more than one of the top four teams in the country could be in one conference -- or even one division. It also must consider the possibility that the best team in a conference might not be the league's champion.

It is that latter category that applies to Ohio State. The Buckeyes will have played the strongest schedule by far of any one-loss team and there are only a few of those. When the CFP Rankings come out on Tuesday night, Ohio State will have a 3-1 record against teams in the top nine on that list. Think about that. The Buckeyes will have played four of the other eight teams in the top nine with three wins, including two on the road, and a three-point loss on the road. Nobody else can touch that.

Entire article: http://www.cbssports.com/college-fo...ke-the-playoff-if-the-committee-does-its-job/

They are predicting 4 B1G teams in major bowl games:

Fiesta Bowl Dec. 31, Glendale, Ariz. - (2) Clemson vs. (3) Ohio State
Rose Bowl: Jan. 2, Pasadena, Calif. - Wisconsin (Big Ten) vs. Colorado (Pac-12)
Cotton Bowl: Jan. 2, Arlington, Texas - Western Michigan (At-large) vs. Penn State (At-large)
Orange Bowl: Dec. 30, Miami, Florida - Florida State (ACC) vs. Michigan (SEC/Big Ten/ND)

SEC - SEC - SEC - SEC - SEC - SEC - SEC
My my my...what would BWI do if they think they're making the playoff and end up with a MAC team
