College Football Playoff (2016-2017 Season)

Won't really need help comparing wins, we have a better resume than both Wisconsin and PoSU.
I agree. I just think the committee is a wild card. They have said they place a lot of value on conference championships.

Is OSU a better team than PSU and Wiscy? Most likely. Will the committee vote that way if PSU wins the big10 title? No better than 50/50.

A Washington loss guarantees you're in.

They value conference championship when the teams have comparable resumes. I'm pretty sure a 49-10 loss on PoSU's only tough road game is going to really cost them as well as the loss to Pitt. The wins against scUM, Oklahoma and Wisconsin alone places them above both B1G championship game teams.

OSU didn't get the luxury of losing one game last year. Committee wanted conference champions. OSU lost to the conference champ on a last second fg in bad weather and they didn't let them in. OSU lost this yr to a potential conference champ and looked pretty bad on other games. They need more help than they got last year.
OSU lost LATE last year and didn't have time to get back to the top this year they'll go into the conference championship week a rock solid #2. Huge difference cash and not to mention the much stronger resume now with 3 top 10 wins not even you guys have that. Hell you guys don't have 1.

If I remember you guys had a game or two where you guys looked underwhelming too. Sure you won them but not in the bludgeoning fashion you guys normally do. Bottom line is you won.

They don't need ANY HELP Cash... none.

Just compare us to Washington and you'll understand this. Only thing they'll have on us if they win is a championship and that's it. Everything else is a land slide to OSU.

For the record I think Bama is a tough draw for OSU this year but you cannot seriously tell me you'd put in Washington over OSU.

Also you have to think about how that "all conference championships" stuff worked out for them last year. They ended up getting two first round blow outs. Think they want that again? Not to mention a substantially lower rated TV audience compared to the 15' playoffs which guess who won?

If it was me, I would put in OSU, but the language of the committee is that they like conference champions. I have no idea how good Washington is, they play too late at night for me.

I'm not arguing that OSU doesn't deserve to be in, I just doubt the committee will put in a team that didn't even play in their conference title game. That's what happened in 2011 and the entire nation was pissed, and partially what the committee was created to avoid.

It's why I think we should go to a six team playoff.

Do you want:

1. BAma
2. Clemson
3. PSU
4. OSU

Luck be a lady tonight!

Last year a miracle Arkansas lateral and two point conversion in OT helped Arkansas beat Ole Miss thus allowing Alabama to be in the SEC championship game.

And TTUN's botched last second punt against Sparty leading to a game winning miracle td allowed Michigan State to be in the B1G championship game.

Luck be a lady tonight!

Do you believe in miracles? Yes !!!

And two years ago the Buckeyes had a well rested Cardale Jones to lead Ohio State to the promised land. Oh yea, and a running back named Zeke. I digress.

No I do not wish to play you first round lol...

If PSU wins it'll go like this IMO
1. BAMA
2. OSU
3. CLEMSON
4. PSU

There's no way osu after just beating a top 3 team a week prior to the final rankings are going to fall 3 spots whIle Penn State raises 4 spots. PSU will get a win over a 6th ranked Wisconsin team in this scenario but in what ranking world does that boost them up 4 spots?

Yes the last two years it's been heavily favored to have championships as trump card but they've been on a trailblazing path to make it a point that it's not necessary and they can pick the best four teams.

Osu lost to the one team it couldn't to this year again but that shouldn't be a death sentence while ped gets bent over for a 30 point loss and loses to pitt.

I get your point but this year they seem to be changing the theory in regards to championships. I think what bama did to MSU and what Clemson did to Oklahoma has a lot to do with it. They've been making it a point to say there's a sizeable difference between A osu team and a PSU team and that was before we beat Michigan today

Again, Oklahoma did not play in a conference title game last year and lost to 5-7 Texas, but made the playoffs.

If the goal is to get the (4) best teams ... and as a few have mentioned, as long as the two best teams are among the four really don't care about the other two. 6/8 would just further dilute the competition.

Can't believe I'm seeing PSU/Wisky sympathizers with this idiotic argument (someone on reddit with good amount of upvotes)

Then what's the point of playing in conf championship? It's literally a punishment

Well moron, where should I start?

In this specific case, the point of playing a conference championship is that neither PSU or Wisconsin has the resume to get in currently. It would only be punishment for OSU or TSUN (had the latter won) if they go to the conference championship game because they already have the record and resume to boot.

Conversely if conference championship is the only measure, why have SOS or OOC games? Just go 2-2 OOC win out your conference and you're likely in.

Oklahoma was a conference champion.

I just don't trust the committee to choose the four best teams. I don't know why. And OSU gave them the excuse to goof.

Personally, don't mind that ped state is in the championship game 'cause what would Ohio State have to prove against Wisky ie they beat them at Camp Randall after they had a bye wk to rest.

Wisky would have all the motivation. Plus the fact as Urban would say, they are a sledgehammer team. Which is part of the reason the Buckeyes lost to ped state ie a sledgehammer game followed by another team on the road who just had a bye wk.

Somebody in the B1G hierarchy must not like the Buckeyes as they finished the last two years w/Sparty and TTUN back to back.

It would be nice to play hmm Charleston Southern/Chattanooga before the TTUN game, eh.

Not whining mind you, just stating those pesky facts!
