College Football Playoff (2016-2017 Season)

It was a tall order with tcu in 2014. I just don't trust these guys.
Very true the big difference is that year TCU was ranked 4th and we were ranked 5th.

We then went and destroyed 13th ranked Wisconsin. Giving us the very slight edge into the playoffs.

We are talking about us being 2nd and Ped being 7th. That's a tall ass order. They'd have a shit load of explaining to do if they leave out a OSU team that just had the best win of any team in the past 2 weeks at the time they reveal the rankings.

There's not a ton if huge games in the championship round either

1 Bama plays probably 20th ranked Florida

3 Clemson vs Unranked VA tech

10 Colorado vs 5 Washington

6 Wisconsin vs 7 PSU

I'M pretty sure you can combine all the top 10 wins from this group after these games are played and it still won't be as many top 10 wins as OSU.

Tcu was third. otherwise I agree with you. But the cfp committee cAn just fall back on head to head and conference championships. They have the ultimate freedom. They don't have to use logic.

Thank you for the correction you're right

Exactly cash and that's why I think we get in. Because they can do whatever they want and they can do what they feel will get the best 4 teams.

In 2014 OSU was one of the four best teams and proved it against the playoff field.

In 2015 OSU was one of the four best teams and was denied the opportunity because of one bad game played too late in the season to recover.

In 2016 OSU is one of the four best teams and will be given the benefit of the doubt. This is still a deeply flawed team that I'm not sure matches up favorably against either Alabama or Clemson, but they've got a great back seven on defense and deserve their shot because they've earned it. I will say this ... Isaiah Prince needs to grow up in a hurry the next five weeks.

CBS thinks the Bucks are "IN":

Bowl projections: Ohio State will make the playoff if the committee does its job

The Buckeyes have already done what is necessary to advance to the College Football Playoff

Even though Ohio State will not win the Big Ten, it is still a very likely College Football Playoff participant. The committee is not charged with putting the four best conference champions in the playoff. It is charged with putting the four best teams in the playoff. It has to judge teams based on their entire seasons, not just the conference portion of it. It has to consider that it is possible that more than one of the top four teams in the country could be in one conference -- or even one division. It also must consider the possibility that the best team in a conference might not be the league's champion.

It is that latter category that applies to Ohio State. The Buckeyes will have played the strongest schedule by far of any one-loss team and there are only a few of those. When the CFP Rankings come out on Tuesday night, Ohio State will have a 3-1 record against teams in the top nine on that list. Think about that. The Buckeyes will have played four of the other eight teams in the top nine with three wins, including two on the road, and a three-point loss on the road. Nobody else can touch that.

Entire article: http://www.cbssports.com/college-fo...ke-the-playoff-if-the-committee-does-its-job/

They are predicting 4 B1G teams in major bowl games:

Fiesta Bowl Dec. 31, Glendale, Ariz. - (2) Clemson vs. (3) Ohio State
Rose Bowl: Jan. 2, Pasadena, Calif. - Wisconsin (Big Ten) vs. Colorado (Pac-12)
Cotton Bowl: Jan. 2, Arlington, Texas - Western Michigan (At-large) vs. Penn State (At-large)
Orange Bowl: Dec. 30, Miami, Florida - Florida State (ACC) vs. Michigan (SEC/Big Ten/ND)

SEC - SEC - SEC - SEC - SEC - SEC - SEC

I've been saying it all year - just get this team to December.

Give Studwara & Warriner a month off to work with this O-Line. Allow Fick some time to get his D-Line healthy and time in the film room. Give Beck some time -- actually, just keep him away from JT.

The Buckeyes are the only one-loss team in the B1G. The Bucks faced the two B1GCG participants in consecutive road night games, winning one by 7 and losing the second one by 3 on a blocked FG - to a team coming off a bye week. Ohio State played the toughest overall schedule of any B1G team and had the most impressive OOC road victory (by 3 TDs at Oklahoma).

"But Penn State beat them!" :mad2:

Congrats to the cowardly Lions for cashing in on their bye week and home crowd. Unfortunately for them their best road win was at 6-6 Indiana. The two teams with winning records they played on the road put up 42 and 49 points on them, the latter resulting in a 39 point ass raping to Michigan - the same scUM team that lost to the Buckeyes.

There's no logical argument for keeping tOSU out of the CFP at the expense of another team, especially not a B1G team. But if you're still concerned, you should probably root for the Sooners and Badgers next weekend, just in case. :pimp:
