Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Don't know why I'm thinking this, but gut feeling is that an Ohio State assistant will take the Cincinnati job if/when Butch Jones takes off shortly.

But I'm sure that Urban has a short list of replacement coaches, considering he just built a staff last year.

Gut feeling is that OSU loses two coaches this offseason to head coaching jobs.

I'd be most concerned if we lost Warinner.

I don't think we'll lose anyone until after next season.

I'm inclined to agree. The coaches know what kind of run they're poised to make next season. Their stocks are high after going undefeated, but they stand a good chance of going even higher with another season. Unless somebody gets a no-brainer, irresistible offer the best move is probably to let it ride for another year.

Same here. Coach Meyer mentioned having to replace assistants as one of the things that took it's toll on him, and I suspect he has "gentleman's agreements" with all his assistants that they'd stay at least two seasons, given their higher compesation as well as a real chance to make a run next year...

At least, this is my hope. :)

Very interesting. His name always comes up but then programs hire another coach and the rumors go away.

Ugh. I was firmly on the "never ever happen" train but these rumors are making me waver.
Not to worry because according to:

According to The Sporting News reporter Matt Hayes, a source close to Chris Petersen has informed Hayes that Chris Peterson will NOT interview with Wisconsin despite the Wisconsin State Journal report.
