Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Not entirely implausible in my mind. Richt is continually on the hot seat down there, and anything short of getting to the championship game will probably not change that.

If the new administration's talk of putting football in its place and lessening its emphasis is true, I think there might be some decent job stability there. It just depends on how firm the new President and BOT is in telling the fanbase to stuff it should they go through a few rough season.

With respect to rumors of Mark Richt to PSU, that would be an enormous coup for the Nits. They need a coach with longstanding reputation for moral rectitude to clean up the mess in the athletic department, and one could hardly find someone better to satisfy that criterion than Richt.

Not saying Richt would be interested, though, as I really have no idea why he would be. A big step downward IMO.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Richt currently coaches at one of the few SEC schools that tends to stay above the moral morass when it comes to recruiting and has been publicly critical of the related problems that plague the conference.

I find it easy to understand that he just might want out for the exact same reason that Urban Meyer wanted out.

Moral Morass is the new name for Happy Valley, ironically.

I don't know why you're laughing about the possibility of their hiring The Zooker. Pitt wouldn't have to worry about another school coming and raiding their coach, so it sounds like a win to me.
Just imagining the potential message board meltdowns when he forgets the score during the 4th quarter of the NC State game down the road.

It is simply stunning how detached from reality most state penn fans are at this point. This in response to an interview between Bill King & Stewie Mandel in which Mandel claims if the nitwits win their bowl game, Bradley will likely be retained, if not, they'll be scrambling and unlikely to land a major name:

Re: Penn State Has No Candidates

Complete BS. Penn State is still Penn State and I buy none of it.

Most of them seem to believe that after the Bowl, Munchak is gonna leave his NFL job to come to state penn. Right, a guy is going to leave the nfl to try to rebuild a program with this scandel and the spectre of an ncaa investigation hanging over it's head. I don't care if he's an alumni, nobody can look at that as a good career move.

The folks doing the hiring at Yale in 2009 evidently didn't verify the things on a resume. Wouldn't the Yale AD have heard of George O'Leary?

Yale coach resigns amid resume flap about Rhodes Scholarship

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Tom Williams resigned as Yale's football coach Wednesday amid a university investigation into whether he lied on his resume about being a candidate for a Rhodes Scholarship while a student at Stanford.
The Ivy League school said the resignation will take effect on Dec. 31.
Williams took over at Yale in 2009 and listed himself as a Rhodes candidate on his resume. He was referred to as a finalist when Bulldogs quarterback Patrick Witt had to decide if he would go for his Rhodes interview as a finalist or play against Harvard this fall.
The university began an investigation in November after The New York Times reported officials of the Rhodes Trust said they had no records of Williams applying for the fellowship when he graduated from Stanford in 1992.
Williams said in a statement Wednesday he was encouraged to apply for the scholarship by Stanford's fellowship office but acknowledged he never did.
"I considered the opportunity, sought advice and was encouraged to apply by faculty members and my coach Bill Walsh, but I did not apply," he said.
Williams' biography on the Yale football website also mentions that he played for the San Francisco 49ers practice squad in 1993. In his statement, Williams also said he never signed a contract with that team.
"During the spring of my senior year, I was given an opportunity to attend a tryout camp with the San Francisco 49ers, and I participated in that three-day event. I did not sign a free-agent contract with the 49ers or participate in their summer training camp for signed players," he said.
Williams was 16-14 at Yale and 5-5 in 2011. But he also was 0-3 against archrival Harvard.
"I am extremely proud of my academic, athletic and coaching career," he said. "If there was confusion created, I take full responsibility. The timing of this inquiry has been difficult for everyone. At this point I believe it is in the best interest of my student-athletes and Yale University that I step down."

Cont'd ...
