AVAST ME HEARTIES!

This would be huge for the gophers if they got this guy to come to Minnesota.

If Minnesota landed Leach one of his QBs would shatter every conference season/career record in one game against Michigan's secondary.

Hell, I'd contribute money to Minnesota's booster funds if they'd do it. I want to see R-Rod and G-Rob defend that.

THey might have missed out on another good candidate since Leslie Frazier was just made interim coach after the Vikings canned Childress today.

Word is Stanford coach said no thanks when contacted about whether he had interest in the Gophers' football coaching job.
More inaccurate reporting.

Actually, when Minnesota asked him whether he had interest, Harbaugh first shot coffee out of his nose, began laughing hysterically, and said, "Are you crazy? Fuck no."

University of Minnesota athletics director Joel Maturi told season-ticket holders and donors in a letter Tuesday that "we are now nearing the final stages of the process" of finding a football coach. The leading candidates for the coaching position are believed to be San Diego State coach Brady Hoke, Air Force coach Troy Calhoun, Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen, Temple coach Al Golden and Connecticut coach Randy Edsall.

So much for getting Petersen out of Boise. That's too bad. As much as I hate Boise, I actually kind of like Petersen. He avoids the arrogance of their fanbase and the shameless lobbying and throwing around of lawsuit threats of their president. I would like to see him sack up and try prove himself in a big boy conference.

I think Petersen is a solid coach. The guys who preceded him at Boise (Koetter and Hawkins) both struggled after moving up, so it will be interesting to track his career.

San Diego State: San Diego State is putting together a "retention package" for head coach Brady Hoke. AD Jim Sterk says he does not expect Hoke to leave for Minnesota. To keep Hoke, Sterk plans to increase Hoke's salary and the salary for assistant coaches.

SDSU is trying to hang on to Hoke, but another school to watch out for is Indiana. Rumor is that Lynch is out, Hoke has ties to the state.

Hopefully it'll be Rocky Long, their current D-coordinator.

Good call on Coach Long. Solid coach, especially defensively, and a good recruiter.

Can't understand why Mike Leech hasn't been given a look?

Sure he's a crazy asshole - but the man can coach up programs with limited football resources. Seems like the right guy for a program to secure 7-9 wins/year.
