What is it about Mike Leach that makes him such an asshole? I remember that being the sentiment...but I don't know what he did to earn it. If it's the Craig James' kid thing......he should've gotten a medal. Fuck that kid and his dad.

I can see a place like Ohio State not wanting anything to do with him...but why not take a shot if you're Minnesota?

From what little I've heard his personality is definitely on the assholish side of the spectrum.

Would you want to hire a football coach who is also an attorney and who makes no bones about the fact that he'll do his best to stick his cleat up your rear end and break it off if he thinks he doesn't have the upper hand in negotiations?

Minnesota has hired Northern Illinois coach Jerry Kill as football coach, a source confirmed Sunday night.

Kill led Northern Illinois to the championship game of the MAC and a bid in the Humanitarian Bowl this season.

In three seasons at Northern Illinois, Kill went 6-7, 7-6 and 10-3. Previously, Kill was coach at Southern Illinois, leading that program to five straight postseason appearances.

Kill succeeds Tim Brewster, who had a 15-30 record in three-plus seasons as Gophers coach before he was fired in October.

Kill has defeated some health issues, including kidney cancer in 2005.
