Mattison is one of the few Michigan coaches I've actually always respected

Mattison's always struck me as one of those guys who stresses fundamentals over 'flash', which I for one am VERY happy to welcome to our defense.

100% this, I've actually seen shadowed him at spring practice and camps, he is definitely a stickler for fundamentals. I'm very happy for the hire, he's a class act, a professional,very knowledgeable about his craft and a damn good recruiter.

Considering the differential in (potential*) defensive talent Ohio State had vs the (potiential*) offensive talent of most of our opponents, I'll say it should be "10 or less".

Harbaugh. He retained him but brought the murderer (names escaping me). So basically what urban did with Fickell but DC to position coach.

Reading that the non-renewal story was not entirely accurate... Was more of a "yeah... you don't need to worry about renewing that contract..." kind of thing. Makes for an easy out for him.

Surely you don't mean to suggest that Jim Harbaugh might be a difficult person to work for.

I saw the stories about the non renewal (supposedly that is what he told the players) but I also read that they offered him 2 years for more money and still walked. Until more is confirmed one theory is he was done with Jimmy and the promotion wasn't the main motivator. They didn't renew his contract, which is technically correct even if the reason for it was he said he wanted fifty million to keep him. I hope it turns out he snubbed them, makes it even sweeter.
