Cleveland There’s Always Next Years (2021 Season)

Time to start calling up past jabronis to see what they’re doing.

I bet Jeremy Sowers can still throw a sloppy 5 innings. He didn’t throw near hard enough to wear that arm out

Rotation used to be headlined by Bieber, Plesac, Civale. Now all are injured and the rotation is in shambles. I guess the positive is the organization is seemingly handling it well with rotating depth in from the minors. So far. Plesac is not far from returning, but I know I've seen him pitch with a foreign substance at times, so who knows if he will be the same pitcher.

If you want to be an optimist, these injuries and trades have given opportunity for young guys to prove themselves. The results have been spotty, but Quantrill and Hentges have had some good outings against multiple teams. McKenzie has some upside, but he is not ready to stick in the rotation right now with his control problems and low velocity - I'm not sure how much he is eating, but it probably isn't enough. Who knows if Logan Allen can figure it out and be back, but right now he seems to be an afterthought. Eli Morgan is nothing more than a warm body.

Civale to the IL. Francona is certainly earning his money this season.
Does the manager build the roster? Maybe he has some input, but the depth of the organization is clearly showing up. Perhaps it also reflects to an extent that some of the players that are considered the best in the organization at their position are actually not particularly good because the replacement players are helping the team play just as well. I mean, the only guys with real all-star material on this team are Bieber, Jose, Karinchak and Clase. Everyone else they can seemingly go next man up and not skip a beat.

Tito should get some credit for getting the multiple next man additions to buy into his team play approach.
