So anyway. That was pretty awesome. Needed to be over anyway. 22 was extra innings. If you have a 13.5 game lead, you're chasing this for (really.cool) posterity. It's not worth it when it starts causing wear and tear that you have a commanding lead... That you can now use to your advantage.

I think the coolest parts if this were that A. They mostly blew the fuck out of everyone they played. And B. They did it with expanded rosters and trotted out whoever the fuck Tito felt like sending out in the lineup. It was shockingly low stress. The 14 game streak last year ended with a 19 inning game as the last win. Not what you need in September.

At any rate there's a reason no one has won 22 games in a row in a hundred years. Giants can have it. Deadballs and parks that only might have an outfield fence in games played by white guys against white guys with no free agency in the daytime. The one common theme that stands out to me are the opposite personalities but towering figures of John McGraw and Tito Francona.

P.S. - trash

Don't be fooled, still a bunch of trashy goats. Trashy, trash-eating goats.

But it's Championship trash!

Through 7, Kluber has given up no runs on 3 hits.

The Tribe bats have been silent, with 3 runs on 3 hits (Encarnacion 2-run HR; Urshela fielder's choice).

The teams have combined for 3 runs, 6 hits, and 3 errors.

EDIT: Bryan Shaw doing Bryan Shaw things.

Tribe now leading 3-2 in the middle of the 8th.

EDIT: Cody Allen with the shaky save, Tribe wins 3-2 with just 3 hits for the game.

Corey Kluber now leading the AL in wins (17), winning percentage (.810), ERA (2.35), WHIP (0.850), K/BB (7.41), complete games (5), and shut outs (3).

Looks like another Cy Young to me ... but Chris Sale pitches for Boston, and MLB award voters love them some Red Sox.

EDIT: Kluber also leads the AL in WAR for pitchers. He was at 7.1 prior to today (it will go up after his 7.0 inning, 3 hit, 9 K, 0 BB, 0 run performance), while Chris Sale is second at 5.9

EDIT: Kluber's updated WAR is 7.9

Sale is heading the wrong direction. Kluber has basically made up IP after missing a month. He's trash but sale is worse.
