CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Indians have placed Michael Brantley on the 10-day disabled list and recalled utility man Erik Gonzlaez from Class AAA Columbus.

Brantley, the Indians' left fielder, sprained his right ankle in the fifth inning Tuesday night against the Colorado Rockies and was forced to leave the game at Progressive Field. Brantley has already been on the disabled list once with an injury to the same ankle.

"Michael was imaged (MRI) on Tuesday night," said manager Terry Francona on Wednesday morning. "It's the same ankle he sprained earlier in the year. It's in a little different area.

"It's considered mild, but it's such a small area and you have to go more on the symptoms than maybe the diagnosis.''

might as well let Perez swing the bat if Kipnis keeps on hitting the way he is trying
they should send him back to Akron and maybe he can get some confidence with some hits
Kipnis has not done much all season but remains one of Francona's favorites
does not do much for me

I think he's here as much as a "locker room" guy as much as anything at this point. Add in the fact that there are no strong alternatives, and we're stuck with him in the lineup. Just have to hope he finds his bat for the stretch run.

Bauer looking skrong his last few times out. One run through 7 and 9 Ks/0 Walks so far today.

Last three starts (including today):
22 IP
20 H
3/3 R/ER
3 BB
22K
1.23 ERA
1.045 WHIP

If he and Saladbar can continue pitching reasonably well, that should make up for Cookie's implosion.

Bauer has got to be involved in some sort of sorcery to achieve 3 straight starts of such non suck.

Watching him the last two times out, you can see that he has really good stuff when he's on. Changing speeds, movement, location...he has it all when he pulls it together. THIS is why he was such a highly regarded prospect. However, he's always had problems maintaining consistency. I'm pretty sure this is the best stretch of his career by far, so hopefully he's unfucked his head. I'm not holding out much hope, though. I'm sure he'll get fisted the next 2-3 times out.

It has to be, I certainly can't remember any other time he put together 3 straight starts that were this good.

I thought for sure after the 1st great start he was going to get torched.....then he did it again and then again today. So hopefully it's becoming a trend. I don't expect it to continue at this level, but yea maybe he's worked his head out a bit and we will see less of gas can Trevor.
