We have ourselves a legit hot streak. 2-1 winner today, Bauer shows us what he is capable of, and why he is so frustrating. Of course, next time out, he'll probably get bombed for 6 runs in 2 innings. Now a season high 10 games over .500.

Still shitty.

The thing that concerns me long term is his very high strikeout rate. He whiffs A LOT, and doesn't balance it out with walks.
The strikeouts do not bother too much because I do not think that long-term he will be in the lead off position. He does strike out too much to bat #1 long term. I think he will be a nice 5-6 hitter down the road but I just think that he is filling in as a lead off hitter this season because the Indians did not have a typical lead off hitter.

strike out rates are generally a far lesser impact stat than they are made out to be, if taken in context with other offensive stats. It's hard to pin down what Zimmer will ultimately be since he really went through the minor league system pretty quickly. But generally speaking in looking at his time in the minors, his K rate is in the below average, teetering on poor level, while his walk rate is in the above average to teetering on great level. his BABIP has always been well above average. his BA is tougher to predict, but you're probably looking at a .270ish average.

So, when you look at BA, BABIP, and walk rates, that K rate isn't very concerning. now, if he kept his BABIP and walk rates the same and cut his K rate to MLB average, he'd be a consistent all-star.

Either way, he's the CF and lead off guy we got (+ platoon opportunities with others) In the present... he can pretty much rip off a base at will and keep that pressure on that way when he's on. Plus, Him, Lindor, Brantley, Encarnacion, Ramirez in that order, is, I think the best way forward.
