Holy smokes. Someone keep Buck off the nearest bridge. The Baltimore pitching staff has now given up 5+ runs in 17 straight games.
Now Tomlin gives up a three-run bomb and the score is tied at 5 in the bottom of the fifth.Tribe finally roughed up Tillman in the 4th inning.
Tillman's line: 94 pitches in 4.0+ innings, 8 hits, 3 BB, 0 K, 5 runs (all earned), plus 2 wild pitches. His current ERA is 8.39!

I think that Bauer can become a pretty good starter if they can keep his head on straight. Every time he pitches, I hear the announcers say that he has one of the best curve balls in baseball. The problem with him is that he wants to throw every pitch in his repertoire. If he would just stay with his fastball and curve and one more pitch, I think it would be fine.. The problem is getting him to do that..They will probably win the division, but they aren't going far in the playoffs with only 2 capable starters. Unless the offense decides to go Ape [Mark May] in every game that Tomlin/Bauer pitch.

His major problem is control. Having nasty stuff is useless if you are always leaving it where the batter can crush it, or not able to hit the strike zone somewhat consistently.
He might be able to be a somewhat competent reliever if they had him stick to a fastball and curve, but I don't think he will ever be a even remotely consistent starter ever regardless.
Meh, if he's the 5 and he's 6-5, I don't give a [Mark May] really. If that's what he is, that's what he is. And minus drone repair, he seems like he's pretty durable. He's a streak guy, he wins 3 loses 3 wins 4 loses 3. The ERA is crap but its a function of getting hammered in his bad starts hard. He's actually pretty good at throwing 3-4 pitches till he gets in trouble, then he goes all Eddie Harris and loads it up with Vagisil.
Oh. Tomlin is shitty. As a #5 he is definitely passable. I suppose he's more frustrating because he definitely has the stuff and potential but just cant put it all together even nearly consistently
Tomlin on the other hand isn't even passable for a #4/5 right now.
