Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Love will be back unless LeBron doesn't want him to be a part of the team moving forward. That's a real possibility, but if he leaves it won't be on his own terms.

A lot of mock drafts have the Cavs taking Tyus Jones in the first round, and I think he's exactly what they need at the backup PG spot. I think the biggest concern on the team is Varejao. Re-signing him to that contract was by far the worst move Griffin has made as GM. Dumping him off on another team is the best possible move the Cavs can make at this point. I think he's going to be awful on both ends of the floor, no matter how many minutes he plays. The Cavs are better off with a young big man who has the potential to develop into something. Another thing to figure out: How are Mozgov, Thompson, and Love going to share the floor? I think you make Thompson your 6th man again, and maybe play he and Love in crunch time. The Cavs haven't played particularly high quality basketball with both of them on the floor, but I still think it's your best bet.
If Lebron would not want Love back, he would need to have his brain examined. I do not know where they could find a better stretch 4 in free agency. I think the only way Love does not come back is if he does not want to come back.

Also, Andy is really liked by Lebron and his teammates and there is no way that he is going to go to another team. Also, as mentioned above, Thompson is a good sixth man but until he proves that he can put the ball in the hole from 10 to 15 feet he should not be put in the starting rotation.

I guess whoever comes back will all depend upon who Lebron wants including Blatt.

I don't want to bash Blatt.. but have to admit.. any time they'd have him miked up and in the huddle
He never seems to say anything .. concentrate on defense... take care of the ball.... DUH
LBJ seems to seek out that asst coach during breaks
Me wonders if we had Kerr, could we have pulled this off

Anyone who rags on the Cavs right now is not thinking straight. They lost three of their top players and still got to the finals, where they won two games basically with LeBron, Mozgov, Thompson and a bunch of D-Leaguers and senior citizens.

They'll be fine next season, but I think they really need to work hard to re-sign Love.

I do not know what the hell else you can say to professional athletes except to remind them to take care of the ball and play hard and play good defense especially when there is a guy named Lebron on the team and I am not picking on you:biggrin2:

And when Kerr was mic'ed up he said anything that was much different than that?

Not much different... but it came across much differently.. and still was a notch above what I heard Blatt say

PLUS LBJ seemed to always be talking to that asst and not the general huddle
An ESPN radio guy just wrote about that. He said LBJ would huddle with Lue and refuse to look at Blatt, and when Blatt drew up something he didn't like, he would shake his head so the whole team could see it, long enough and obvious enough that Blatt had to wipe his board and draw something else.

This all reminds me of when Jimmy Rodgers took over the Celtics after KC Jones left...Bird was having nonevof him, and he didn't seem to be up to it, either

lebron did the same stuff to spoelstra. the only difference is miami had a pat riley to tell him to knock it off. it still didn't change the fact that lebron never listened to spoelstra at all and would take himself out and re-enter the game basically whenever he felt like it.

Generally agree, but it seems like there's opportunity for a lot of roster upheaval. Love, TT, Shump, JR, Delly ... and probably some I'm missing ... all have the chance to leave. Keeping most (all?) is crucial. On top of that they really need to find improvements for the geriatric contingent and preferably some kind of trade involving Haywood.
Griffin has his work cut out for him.

But if they can keep the team intact, I agree entirely -- they'll be fine. The only thing that can stop them is injuries =(
