It's simple. If Humphries insists on a deal, then we pull it out of the trade. If he backs off, we jump on it quicker than the jiggle of a jackrabbit's ass.

there are already rumors that the bobcats might jump in the fray if the humphries won't sign a one year guaranteed deal. but the issue is that the bobcats don't have a contract like luke walton that's an expiring that they can use to offer salary relief.

Yep but you're assuming a lot on the cavs part.

There is no guarantee that we'll be able to flip humphries, given that he is a free agent he has no reason to sign any deal that isnt guaranteed. It all depends on that pick we get because if its coming from the nets its 2015 at the earliest.

he'll sign a one year guaranteed deal with option years if it's more than what he'll get on the open market, which is entirely probable given the salary matching that's going on.

the pick from the nets going to the cavs is in 2013. the rest of their picks are going to orlando. where you get 2015 is a totaly mystery. that's the reason they're trading brooks for a 1st.

2015 from the fact you cant trade consecutive first round picks. Why would we get 2013 and not Orlando?

Is it really the Nets 2013 first rounder? If so, that's sweet. Howard may not play until after Christmas, with that back. Nice.

Also, the Magic will suck, making their second round pick that the Cavs
get, a lot better.

yes. it is their 1st this year. and the dynamics of this whole thing gives motivation for the cavs to do the trade. the nets won't rip off a great regular season record, which will likely net cleveland a pick in the low 20s. then, orlando will be a hot mess, making that 2nd rounder an even better pick.

Fair enough if it's the 2013 then you gotta do the deal... Just dont get the warm fuzzies from the cavs moves lately

the stepien rule resets at the beginning of each league year. so, the nets could ship out the clippers pick to orlando this year, and their pick to cleveland. then they begin the every other year deal of orlando getting picks in 2015, 2017, and 2019, as has been reported all along. they simply needed to get an additional 2013 pick this year since the cavs demanded a 1st.

I love how the Cavs are "mucking up" the Howard trade. The Cavs won't make a deal unless they see it as good for their organization. If they don't want Humphries for multiple years or can't work out a one year deal that is acceptable to all parties then screw it. I'd shoot for a 3 year 16 mil deal with Humphries with the first year guaranteed and a 2 mil buyout option for each of the last two years. That way if he gets traded and cut after one season he'll make 12 mil and can sign a new multi-year deal next summer. If he plays well then the Cavs might hold onto him for a couple years, but his contract always stays tradeable.

Yea, I'm hearing they're getting cold feet, too. That must be Fagan insisting Hump wants a multi-year, guaranteed contract. If the Hornets are dumb enough to agree to that, let them have him. They're also interested in Brooks.

it was the bobcats, and their beat writer stated that they would only take humphries on a one year deal as well. the whole cavs getting cold feet rumors coming out are just to put pressure on the cavs to make the deal. but the cavs aren't going to do so unless it totally benefits them. if some other team wants to take on humphries for multiple years guaranteed, let them.

it should be no surprise to anyone that the two teams now entering the talks are the bobcats and minnesota. if there were two teams dumb enough to take on such a contract, it's those two.
