Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

and to make it real juicy... yahoo says

"Bynum, 24, has one year left on his Lakers contract and has a short list of potential teams with salary-cap space and supporting cast that primarily include the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets with the Cleveland Cavaliers and a "couple others" on the list, league sources said. "

Take this roster, add in one year, 2 Rd1 draftees (we'll parlay the 3 into 2 really good ones), toss Bynum in the middle... and voil? .. we're dangerous... for years to come

Really has Bynum mentioned wanting to go to Cleveland.. I doubt that is happening with other choices.. plus the dude is injured a ton, not to mention has some serious attitude problems. He seems like an LA type guy.

not really sure what we gain out of this... seems like all we are doing is helping the Nets get better and we get nothing.. but i'm sure they have a plan.. right....

they get a 1st round pick right out of the gate, and will trade humphries for more assets. if they trade him by this year's trade deadline, they get multiple assets for all of about $2-$3 million without hindering their cap at all.

Salaries 2012 season

Cavs: Walton $5.8M
Cash ($3M)

Orlando: Richardson $2.8M

Nets: Gaines $.8M
Humphries $8M

So Cleveland adds $11.6M in salary, less $3M cash and less $5.8M for Walton.. net net Cavs up a measly $2.8M which it can completely remove after one year... plus an addl Rd 1 and all $11.6M back in it's coffers to nap a Tier 1 stud

no brainer

We get $3 million? I don't know. Sounds like Humphries wants a guaranted multi-year deal. F That!

I do want the Nets to get Howard. It would at least help to keep some balance of power in the East because, right now, it is all in the West with the exception of the Heat*.

Humphries stats last year were not bad at all, I'd much rather have him than Antwon Jamison back.

The trade helps us but I don't know if Gilbert will pull the trigger because it would give the Nets a big 3 (big 2.5 really). It makes a super team.

It also benefits the Cavaliers, which is why I think he will try and make it happen. There's nothing to really stop teams from loading up on superstars, so might as well try and benefit as much as you can from being a trade buffer, and pick up picks in the process.

but it's not sustainable. johnson and wallace are on the wrong side of 30 and both have seen declines in play already. who knows how howard will be with his back issues. plus, jersey will be in total cap hell in 2 years, with no picks or real way to supplement their roster.

in two years when cleveland is ready to be a legit contender in the east, jersey will be a lot like boston this year at best. that's hardly a reason to not do the deal.

Yep but you're assuming a lot on the cavs part.

There is no guarantee that we'll be able to flip humphries, given that he is a free agent he has no reason to sign any deal that isnt guaranteed. It all depends on that pick we get because if its coming from the nets its 2015 at the earliest.

Hey, we played most of last year with Semih Erdan, Ryan Hollins
Anthony Parker and Omar Casspi. Like him or not, mr Kardashian is a much better upgrade over those stiffs.

If he signs a 2year contract with year 2 being a team option, he'll be easy to unload on a team looking to get rid of a bad contract.

He's a hustler and will scrap for boards.
