Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I have to be honest, injuries terrify me at this point. It's too good to be true.
Is there a reverse voodoo doll that keeps people healthy instead of cursing them?
That's the wildcard. Kyrie has been banged up each season, but hopefully no longer needing to be the catalyst for the offense will help there. Like I said, at this point, you can basically count on Verejao missing significant time. But at least you have a reasonably talented Tristan Thompson as insurance. Love missed a lot of 2010 and 2013, but those were freak hand injuries, so it doesn't look chronic.

I kind of expect these guys to stumble a bit out of the gate as they learn to play together. But, if they can stay relatively healthy, there's no reason they shouldn't run away with the east. Indiana is toast after losing Paul George on top of Stephenson leaving. Chicago is probably the biggest threat, and that's heavily based on Derrick Rose returning to his old form after playing just 49 games in three seasons with a couple of serious injuries. There's no guarantee he's anywhere near the player he was before he got hurt, and even when he was healthy, they didn't get out of the East in the post season. Adding Pau Gasol is nice, but he's not an All-Star anymore.

I don't want to be the Yankees. I don't want to be Manchester United. I didn't grow up a fan of the Chicago Bulls or the Dallas Cowboys. I grew up a Cleveland fan, knowing damn well that if a title ever came, we'd fucking have to earn it and it would be one of the greatest feelings in the world.

This feels cheap and expected.

Lebron, Kyrie and Love aren't beyond their primes yet. When they have max deals expiring at the ages of 41, then calling the Cavs the Yankees will be a little more appropriate.

But even then, Lebron is the Yankees of the NBA. The team isn't. The Cavs drafted all their starters for next season, other than Love.

God damn, what a roller coaster last 4 months or so for the city of Cleveland. Love or hate him, it all started with Johnny Football and it has been ridiculous how quickly the sports landscape has changed in Cleveland noww. Heck, you could probably go back to the Hitner, Tate signing as the beginning even....

Just wow, now I am super fearful something bad will happen, this is too good to be true! (knocks on wood)

This is like that episode of Married With Children when Al Bundy keeps getting good luck and he's complaining about it. No one can understand why he's so upset to receive some good fortune. He explains the Bundy Curse, which means that each and every stroke of good luck will be met with an equal or greater stroke of bad luck.

In other words, I'm bracing for it.

It is all more fully explained here: http://marriedwithchildren.wikia.com/wiki/Episode:Luck_of_the_Bundys

If the city of Cleveland could have one mascot, it would be Al Bundy.

Peaked early in life (Indians pre-48), Browns under Paul Brown/Collier, then spent the rest of his life miserable. Fleeting glimpses of success (mid-80s Browns, 90s Indians, LeBron's Cavs) were met by equal frustration with little payoff.

It's pretty much the epitome of being "munsoned"

I feel the same way. Others have made valid points that this isn't quite the Yankees, but it's definitely not the most organic way to build a team.

A drafted player like Wiggins may be more loyal to the organization than a guy who is out looking for championships like Kevin Love. Strictly from a business standpoint, I think the Cavs organization would want to keep their team relevant for as long as possible, and that would be keeping Wiggins and other young talent.

I would think the Cacvs would want to win a championship and it's really hard to believe anyone would complain about how they go about it if they get it done. Cheap?!?!?! What the heck is wrong with you guys, you'll find anything to complain about.

There was nothing cheap about what the Cavs have done. They amassed assets for years, to make this all possible. They had to give up assets (Zeller,Kersev and a first round pick) to clear cap space to sign Lebron. They gave up more assets to trade for Love. When you put that in place, you will have the Millers, Allens and Marions of the world beating a path to your door.
