Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I'm also in the Wiggins over Parker camp. I don't think we can put a whole lot of stock in what's being put out there. There were rumors about taking Alex Len #1 the day of the draft last year. Were those legit or just more smoke screens.

I've heard the arguments about Wiggins not showing a killer instinct, but when has there ever been a player who didn't reach his potential because of his lack of killer instinct? I'm asking that question seriously. Maybe there are good examples out there, but I can't think of any. Lebron had a similar rep a few years ago, but I'd take Lebron's 2011 version over everybody else in the NBA.

New report says Wiggins will go #1: http://msn.foxsports.com/ohio/story/cavs-report-is-wiggins-the-new-no-1-062214

Basically, I'm done tracking this. Some say Jabari tanked his workout to avoid playing for the Cavs, others say that he's still our #1 guy (Chad Ford among them). I'm pleased with our coaching choices (Lue was my #2 anyway) and I'm hopeful going forward.

In the words of George RR Martin, words are wind. I wouldn't be surprised if we called Noah Vonleh first on Thursday - in true Anthony Bennett spirit. At least we won't have to wait much longer to find out.

Not saying you said it, but it's laughable that Parker would tank to avoid being taken by the Cavs. Every single guy in the draft has been dreaming for years of being the #1 overall pick in the draft. Besides, Cleveland may not be Honolulu, but neither is Milwaukee. It's not like the Knicks or Lakers have the #2 overall pick.

if joel embiid got his right arm amputated, left eye gouged out, and suddenly developed cerebral palsy tomorrow, he'd still be a better player than Thabeet.

Maybe, but now I'm adding a little Greg Oden to Embiid with the injury issues. There is no way I use an early first round pick on him, especially not the first overall. If he turns into Tim Duncan, so be it. I'll roll the dice against those odds.

I like all these offers the Cavs are getting. If they really like Embiid they can pick Wiggins and wait to see where Embiid falls to and pull the trigger if the right deal comes along. If the worst thing that happens is they end up with Wiggins it isn't a bad thing. No reason to pull the trigger on a deal until they make sure they get the guy they want.

So Gilbert wants Wiggins and the front office wants Parker. Last year Gilbert wanted Oladipo and the front office wanted (and got) Bennett. I am fascinated to see what happens here. The reports that I read all said that it was Gilbert who pushed for Bennett, but I guess that wasn't the case. Maybe the guy isn't as much of a villain as the comic sans letter made him out to be? He did let his front office choose (and an awful choice it was, unless Bennett turns the corner quickly) last year. I hope he isn't as passive this year, because the more I think about it, the less sense Parker makes. He's a better version of Bennett, and the same kind of player as Thompson. All of them have SF size and no speed, so they're left guarding the 4. Irving, Waiters, Parker, Bennett/Thompson, Varejao make no sense together on the floor. It's a lineup that lacks any defense, and who would guard a LeBron/Durant type player? Nobody.

I hope they either grab Wiggins (the safe move), or trade with Orlando for the 4th pick, 12th pick, and Afflalo. They could take Embiid at 4 (so long as his medical records don't deem him as a hopeless commodity), 12, I don't know, maybe Saric? Then they at least have Afflalo and no issues between Gilbert and the front office. It's a long-term idea, and one Gilbert probably wouldn't be too keen on, but I think in two years you've got a top 3 team in the East.

You would think they look at the roster when they are making the pick and take a player that can play a position that they need. i.e. no PG, PF or SG. If I were running it I pick Wiggins to make sure I get one of the guys I like. If Embiid falls to one of the teams that is looking to make a deal they can make a trade. No reason to pull the trigger before you know you get what you want. If I don't get Embiid I don't trade down for anything.

Wiggins has GOT to be the pick. He just fits the team so much better AND he has better upside.

Parker is an oversized SF, meaning he will get toasted guarding any SF in the league. Yes he can score... and he will need the ball in his hands... how many guys on this team need the ball in their hands? Do we need another one? Wiggins is the best fit, he won't need the ball in his hand and can play defense with a chance he can be a lockdown defender.

PLUS he can slide down to SG if need be if we get another SF in the near future.

But I also have this feeling... something big is going to happen tonight. A team will panic and up their offer for #1 and we will get something crazy to move down.
