Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

It's been reported that Embiid has a navicular fracture. Same injury that Bill Walton, Yao Ming, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas were plagued by. Needless to say, the focus should now be placed squarely on Parker and Wiggins.

Also, it appears as though David Blatt is going to be the Cavs next head coach.

This could end up working out well for the Cavs. With the #1 pick it would suck if the player you really want has too many red flags to draft at #1, but if the Sixers really think Wiggins is they guy they need they now have a legit fear that the Cavs will draft him. With the Cavs all over a healthy Embiid and the Bucks rumored to like Parker the Sixers could have sat back and hoped Wiggins fell to them. With Embiid hurt #3 will be too low to get they guy they really want. If I'm the Cavs I ask for #3, either #10 or unprotected first rounder next year, and a player (preferably Noel) to trade down.

I wouldn't be totally against this. A navicular fracture is bad, bad news though.

I love the coaching choice. I think it's the right move without question.

Bill Simmons says that the Cavs are leaning Jabari. I'm not sure how a source would know that saying as we haven't even worked him out yet, but it's certainly an interesting idea. I lean Wiggins simply for the fact that you know he's capable of running the floor and playing defense. Parker's defense is uh... not so great. And yes, he can learn to play defense, but so could Kyrie. And he hasn't yet. I don't think it makes sense to draft Parker if they still want LeBron to come back. I didn't love Embiid, but at least we'd have good floor balance with him. Without him we have no presence under the basket.

I like hiring Blatt. His biggest challenge is going to be to get all the players to buy into the team like he has done in Europe. I like that he's a guy that has won with lesser talent. Kind of the opposite of Cal. One question is he hasn't had to deal with NBA prima donnas. He needs to get Kyrie to buy in since I think the rest of the team will be ok. Winning will cure all ills so that will be the biggest key. Hopefully the Cavs are successful in building an organization modeled after the Spurs. We'll see how the draft goes and if they have anything up their sleeves. If they pick at #1 I want Wiggins.

Agreed. Lue may end up being a good coach, but the last thing the current Cavs' roster needs is a guy with zero head coaching experience.

IMO.. THE most important ingredient we are missing.. is a Popovich
We're a mess as far as a team is concerned.. and without a strategist, teacher and motivator...
We need a coach who can reconstruct Irving.. Iverson could score 75 but was unable to create a TEAM...
The Spurs are a function of Popovich...
I want one

I hope Mary Schmitt Boyer, The Plain Dealer didn't write this just to feed my vagaries...

Who are the Cleveland Cavaliers getting in David Blatt?

Love the Blatt hire, I think he will bring the offense that we wanted Scott to get us to.

I'm pretty upset about the Embiid news. The guy has monster potential, I take Wiggins at one if we stay there, but I would like to trade the pick now. I would not be upset with Wiggins, I think him running the floor with Kyrie and Dion would be very exciting, plus his defensive potential is much higher than Parker.

I like Parker but your going to have two very similarly built and athletically similar guys between him and Bennett.

Parker's fat, slow and can't shoot either?

Ha, and I think you have to give Bennet a chance to prove what he can do after having a real off season, unlike last year where he did not have an offseason. Plus, he will have the experience of last year to learn from, I do not think the guy is an All-Star but he does have a high offensive upside, now if he does not show improvement this year then yes you can reference him as fat, slow and can't score.

Cavs leaning Parker according to Ken Berger of CBS Sports.

It makes sense short-term, but Dan Gilbert's inability to think in the long-term drives me insane. We know what kind of player Parker will be, and he will likely be a consistent 20PPG scorer. He's my bet for ROY. It's still anyone's best guess as to what Wiggins offers, but I think there's a very solid chance that he eclipses Parker with a few years, even on the offensive side of the ball. This team lacks leadership, which Parker brings, and it lacks defense, which Wiggins brings. It's hard to be disappointed by either one, yet I feel that this is the safe pick and may look incredibly stupid in 3 years.

I say take a shot at Wiggins. At worst he's an elite defender with freak athleticism who disappears on offense.

This post pretty much nails it, if you ask me. If Blatt's as good as an offensive coach as advertised, he could help with Wiggins' inconsistency on the offensive end.

ever since Embiid went down I have been leaning towards Parker over Wiggins...main reason being is that I havent seen the "killer instinct/passion to win" with Wiggins...maybe i havent watched enough games or whatever but that scares me in a player...maybe he is really quiet like kawahi leonard is...but still there have been alot of possessions that I have watched where he took plays off and didnt seem interested in what was going on...thats only reason I am leaning more towards parker...overall tho I think Wiggins has the most upside of him and parker...bottom line as long as we take either guy I will not be dissapointed
