Maybe it's because I'm no longer emotionally invested in this outfit, but I'm eager to see what Mayfield can do with the clowns. I know it's a rule that you have to compare every 6'0 qb to Drew Brees or Russ Wilson, but give him some time to learn, get him some weapons and i could see them getting a good return from him. I know he's a lightning rod because of the flag deal and because he's...well...a punk, but remove that and look at his atttibutes as a player and there's a lot to like. I don't get the Manziel comparisons other than he's a bit of a punk and smallish. By most any account you read, he's a great leader, his teammates love him, and he's worked his ass off. Manziel was widely seen as entitled, selfish and lazy. Two totally different people, IMO.

Leadership in the NFL is only if you're a great player. Scrubs don't lead. Tebows team mates loved him and he worked his ass off. Means little without the physical and mental talent - of which Baker has flashed little of coming from a conference and offensive style that produces poor QB's.

Zona got the best QB in this draft and health permitting will show that in 2-3 years.

I bring up the “leader” point as a contrast to how Manziel was viewed coming out of college. I just disagree with that lazy comparison. He may very well bust, but I don’t see a qb in this draft that doesn’t have a good shot at busting, including Rosen because of the concussions, and it was always going to be a qb at one.

This is where I am with it. I would've taken Rosen, but there's nothing close to a sure thing QB in this draft. Get Hue out of there and I think he'll be fine a couple years down the road. If OSU fans weren't so Penn State-y about the flag thing the attitude might be different.

Not really crazy about who is left on the board. Guice is interesting and so is Hernandez (not really a big need). Would love to see a Safety taken as well but again the players left at that position are not really appealing. I wonder if taking another cornerback (Jackson or Oliver) may be in the cards.

I am on board with another corner. I wouldn’t be against taking Jackson. I know a lot of people would like to see a RB and I can’t really say I am against that, either. I just don’t want to be disappointed when the pick is announced, whoever it is. No more obvious reaches like in the past while other known playmakers are staring them in the face.

The second round always seems a bit disappointing because there is an entire day of the Browns sitting at or near the top of the second round with all of the media going over who is left, who is a steal at this point, who is surprising to still see there and then the Browns never pick anyone like that. It always seems like they come to the podium with Joe Dipshit from Never Heard Of U.

Historically, the Browns' second round picks have arguably been worse than their first round picks - Rahim Abdullah, André Davis (the WR), Brodney Pool, Eric Wright, Montario Hardesty, Greg Little, Nate Orchard, DeShone Kizer, and the grand trifecta from the 2009 draft, namely Brian Robiskie, Mohamed Massaquoi, and David Veikune.

Joe Dipshit from Never Heard Of U = 2003 second round pick Chaun Thompson, a linebacker from West Texas A+M.

Yeah. I love the research you always do. Looking back at some of those names, there are a decent number I knew of. I guess now I am curious to when those picks occurred and who was still on the board at the time. Still a shitty list of names. It was embarrassing watching last night when on the huge video board on stage, while waiting for the Browns pick to come in, it displayed recent first round picks and names like Johnny Manziel, Barkevius Mingo, Justin Gilbert, Brandon Weeden, etc... were all listed.
