Baker Mayfield has completed 64.6 percent of his passes. That ranks as the second highest completion percentage in a season in Browns history. Only Hall of Famer Otto Graham had a higher percentage: 64.7 percent in 1953. Mayfield is one-tenth of a percent behind breaking a team record that has been held for 65 years.

He's also thrown 24 TDs as a rookie, two shy of the NFL record shared by Peyton Manning and Russel Wilson.

12 games with a TD to start a career also puts him third on that list, behind Kurt Warner (23 games) and Brad Johnson (15).

Kid is good. They have some solid pieces to work with in RB/WR/TE. If they can beef up the O line or add a solid WR/RB threat and keep Williams as DC they will be a good team next year. Not a browns fan but I’m happy to see them have success. They’re a couple players away from being a solid playoff team, and probably should have been a playoff team with the fuckery in the Steelers/Raiders game and I think there was one more game that was questionable in the outcome.

I agree with most of this except for needing a RB/WR combo (I think Duke Johnson is fine in that role). I appreciate the love from other fans, but am prepared for the hatred that comes our way when Baker and the Boys start kicking ass.

Just imagine - it could be argued that the Browns *may* could have finished 10-5-1. A decent-to-good FG kicker wins at NO and Pitt(1) and if the refs don't fuck them out of the 1st down in Oakland, they win that one. Wow, 10-5-1 I think wins the division.

Finally, next year will be a year to actually have hope. Strange feeling for a Browns' fan. :-)

Edit: Shit! Could have been 11-4-1 if they win @Balt!

I do not think that they absolutely need to take a WR high in this draft if they can re-sign Perriman and keep Duke Johnson in the fold. They might need to take a look at CB depending upon Ward's status. I think that they might need a big DT who can make a push in the middle but possibly they can get one of them in FA. I do not think that Williams will come back strictly as a DC. I think he will be gone if he is not given the HC position with his son as the DC. That is a problem right there when you have the DC as a relative. Otherwise, I can hardly wait until next season.

I wanted something of a 1tech presence in the middle and was hoping Carl Davis would help fill that role, but he has been inactive more than not. If we give up yards our redzone defense has to be able to hold up on the interior line, which is where the Steelers really killed us last time out. Our secondary, when healthy, is actually pretty good. My question is about Kirksey and his regression this season. Hoping it's just because of injury and not something else. The pass rush is fine when we're in favorable down and distance but when teams setup hard play action early the intermediate routes become an issue. Zettel has actually been a welcomed addition to this rotation and I hope he's kept in the off-season. Likewise for Chris Smith and the swiss army knife that is Avery.

Like most of the sentiment here, with competent coaching and even an average NFL kicker, this team probably has 9-10 wins this season and locks up a wildcard spot.

Oh, I agree:biggrin: but I think bringing a guy who can give a big push in the middle would also help our pass rush on the outside. I also forgot to mention that I do think we need to bring in a another LB. Not just because of Kirksey and I do believe that injuries have hindered him this season but the LB corp could use some depth. The only reason that I brought up a DB is because of Ward. I almost mentioned last week that I was a little concerned about him because of his lack of stature. I do not remember how he performed with his physicality when he was at Ohio State but he just cannot seem to bring it in the NFL.
