Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

Wow, Browns clear house in the office, clear out the QBs too basically. Weeden and Campbell both get the axe. Are they really going after Manziel? I assume they pick up another veteran QB to help mentor and maybe start part of the season? Who might they bring in to help tutor Manziel?

i can totally see haslam wanting to make a herschel walker / ricky williams type trade for a qb like a brady or a brees.

being the browns you know we'll end up with someone like joe flacco, phillip rivers, or matt ryan in exchange for all our draft pics.

seems like the dick move for haslam to do so consider it done.

If they are absolutely absolutely set on getting a QB, you could do worse than Matt Ryan or Screamin Phillip Rivers. No thanks to Flaccid, Brady is on the downward spiral and eventually Brees will be as well.

I wouldn't do it myself, but those 4 (Brees, Brady, Ryan, Rivers) are better than anything this draft class is going to produce.

If the Browns did some dumb@$$ move like this, they deserve to lose. Unless you have the ALL the pieces in place to win now except a QB, then I get it. But here is a draft where they can address needs at RB, OG, WR, CB, ILB and FS and depth. Get Mack signed, extend Haden, Hoyer gets healthy and plays like he did last year, and the team gels a bit more...and hopes are a bit brighter. The previous regime screwed it up the year they traded up to get Richardson and puked up Weeden in the 1st round. They can't allow themselves to scew it up again.

My theory is Watkins at #4. A back like Hyde or Hill somewhere else in the draft. Do not sign Tate...will have to overpay and RBs are a dime a doze. Edwin Baker and Dion Lewis still on the radar. I would look at bringing in Schaub to compete with Hoyer (please no Rex Grossman). Whoever wins the job has Watkins, Gordon and Cameron to throw to plus I think we see another move for a 3rd WR (they offered Hawkins but Cincy can match). Hawkins would be an upgrade over the Bess/Little. I would argue Josh Cooper was the 3rd best receiver on this team last year. Still have to address OG CB and ILB in the draft. I like Xavier Su’a-Filo as an option with the #26 pick...best guard available and fits Shanahan's zone blocking scheme. Still like Hyde with their 2nd round pick...one cut and go style also fits the zone blocking scheme.

PS - already love Dansby:

"There's something special about this city," said Dansby, a first-team All Pro last season. "I've been on the west coast; I've been down south. I've never been in this element before, so it's brand new to me.

"I'm taking a leap of faith. I really believe there's something special going on here. That's the reason I'm here, and I'm going to make the most of this opportunity."

The players seem to think and speak very highly of coach Pettine.
I honestly feel he is a large reason Dansby was attracted here. Cleveland (in terms of sports and fan support) is a special city. I am glad there is some recognition of this.

Think about what Watkins at 4 and signing Edelman could do...Gordon, Watkins, Cameron, Edelman, Little (in that order) and whoever the back is as passing game options...not bad at all.
