Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

Source #3
Boston Herald

a reference to "Me-vis" crackled through Boston sports radio Thursday morning, news of the signing was greeted well across New England, but it comes with a twist. Darrelle Revis' contract turned out to be more complicated than originally expected. Late Wednesday night, the deal was reported as a one-year, $12 million agreement, which remains true in principle. But in reality, the contract was filed as a two-year deal worth $32 million, and the second season is a team option that must be exercised by the final day of the 2014 league year.../QUOTE] :biggrin2:

Why do I hate all the prospects people want to draft?

Gawd knows I have explained why I hate Manziel, and now I must say this... I DO NOT WANT WATKINS!!!!

It's like putting lipstick on a pig. Sure we could have two dynamic WRs... but no one to throw the ball to them. But besides that, I just don't like Watkins as a pro prospect. He doesn't have any toughness. I owned him in my college fantasy football leagues for all 3 of his seasons... and he missed 2-3 games a year and went MIA in games that he has something slightly wrong with him... hamstring? out 2 weeks... pulled groin... out another week.

Just one of those feelings that he is going to be a bust in the pros. How many 'speedy' WRs come into the NFL that are drafted high and bust? Actually it is a pretty high rate. And Watkins fits that bill.

Its just your hangover from quad night talking.

So do you go OL so it is less likely to be a bust?

I don't think OL is less likely to be a bust...if anything they are more likely to get hurt.

I don't know 1st round OL is about the only thing the Browns have been good at.

Say Clowney and Bridgewater are gone who do you pick? I'd be happy with Bortles with the second first rounder, but not really at 4. I wouldn't take any other QB until the 3rd. I like Watkins but the only game I saw him play was against the Swiss Cheese Bullets. Trade down and get an ILB? I just down see any way to make anyone happy with the first round this year.

I am still leaning towards Bridgewater/Bortles. Actually would not hate them picking Mack. Clowney??? I think he will be a wildcard. Like if Jacksonville picks him, he will cash the paycheck and suck. But if StLouis or Houston pick him he will be a monster. I just can't tell if Cleveland would be a situation he will be a bust or a stud.

While I love picking OL in 1st rounds... we just don't need one this high. We have our LT and I just can't pick a RT with the #4 pick.

Well we have 2 good ones, that's true...Schwartz not so much, but he was round 2. I like Watkins over Bortles or Johnny FUBAR, I know people aren't sold on him, but look at all the busting people did (here and elsewhere, and I was one of them) on Alshon Jeffrey when he came out too...would love to have him right now.

i would posit that there is a very high chance that the browns will take the best OG on the board at pick #26. They are rumored to really like sua filo from UCLA, which would seem like a perfect fit for the ZBS.

I posted the same yesterday...Su'a-Filo at #26 sandwiched by Watkins and Hyde makes a lot of sense to me. I could make a case from Yankey from Stanford at #26 as well but I don't think he fits the ZBS as well. Then address CB and ILB and look for a QB late after they sign Schaub (although it looks like Houston wants to trade him now). That's what I would like to see happen.

I could also make a case for Watkins at #4, best QB available at #26 (likely Carr), Hyde in the 2nd, and using their third round picks to targets an OG (Gabe Jackson or Brandon Thomas) and an ILB (Chris Borland in the third would be nice).

If they go QB late this is an intriguing idea (although I think I like Mettenberger better):

Nick Saban: Passing on A.J. McCarron would be a huge mistake

Lastly, I think this article is failing to take into account a lot of the intangible stuff Whitner and Dansby are bringing to the table:

Whitner cost Browns a lot more than Ward cost Broncos

And look who just posted himself in Browns gear on Instagram:

I will agree with this part, having 2 good WRs won't do us any good if we get Weedenesque QB play...watch Eric Decker fade into oblivion with the NYJ just like Santonio did.
