I was good with drafting Richardson, he is going to be tough (I hope). I just wasn't thrilled with giving up 3 draft picks to move up 1 spot. But whatever. The Weeden pick is just mind-boggling. He would have been there at 37, and if not, so fucking what? DeCastro and Reiff were there and at least 1 of the WRs would have been there at 37.

But OK. Weeden's a Brown now so I support him.

Draft: Richardson or Claiborne, then take Decastro at 22.

The bundle some of the picks that were used to move up to 3 to grab one of the tier 2 QB's.

I swear, I'd rather have Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and Preston Lacy running the show.

The problem with that is there are other tanking teams and what happens when they end up picking 8-10 and the top qb's are already gone? Do you reach at that point or do you say tank again and get a qb in the following draft?

When you have as many holes as the Browns, you dont draft Kalil just because he's the best lt. If I apply your logic, how many of the last 10 Super Bowl participants have drafted 2 stud left tackles?

As far as the running back argument, it's not like this franchise has done a great job at drafting rb's outside of round one.

They can pick a wr and rt in rounds three and four and this team would now have 4 new decent starters. Sure, Weedon was a big stretch, but I don't think its a stretch to say he'll be better than McCoy. Peter King said Weedon would have been gone by thier 2nd round pick so, if they really liked the guy, why notr take him at 22. Sure, he nay only have 5 years, but, that's the same as Richardson so they better get the rest of their shit together in the next few years.

IMO, it's not about selecting Weeden, it's about where MANAGEMENT chose to pick Weeden. Personally, I have nothing against the young man and I hope he succeeds in Cleveland BUT we have seen this before and most of the time it does not turn out well. This has EPIC FAIL written all over it unless they address the issues at OL and WR and Weeden is Joe Montana resurrected.

So you're saying you support trading up to take a RB rather than sitting put and either getting the same exact player or getting the best tackle in the draft? and if all that were somehow [censored]ed up (which would be numerically impossible) the best defensive player in the entire draft is still sitting there?

I like how you focused on Blackmon- you're right, that pick at four would have been almost as [censored]ing stupid as what they actually did, but the last time I checked the Cardinals recently made a playoff run thanks to some killer receivers and a way past his prime QB, which is way more than the Browns have even come close to sniffing in the last decade.

By the time the Browns get a team together, Richardson is going to be a run down, injury ridden shadow of his former self, even if they somehow miraculously get a team together in two or three years. Once again, look at the Vikings.

Richardson was the right pick. You do not draft a Right Tackle at #4 when you have an elite talent at a production position sitting there, even if it means jettisoning a few later picks you're likely to cut later on, anyway.

...and that's what [censored]es me off about 22 even more. They are sitting in position to have an elite RB, and have two potential pro bowl blockers expected to go much higher fall right into their laps. They're gift wrapped for them. You not only address the hole at RB, you improve his chances for success by drafting a blocker to open holes for him. It's a homerun. A no-brainer. Can't [censored] this up. BRANDON [censored]ing WEEDEN. What. The. [censored]. 28 year QB about to get thrown into the breach without any receivers. Want a little salt in the wound? Sure thing. The two other teams in the region quickly snatch up the two OL.

I just can't stand it anymore. It's like this franchise purposely [censored]es us off and laughs as we tantrum. I hope they move to LA.

So, what we've got here is that the top 10 guys have usually been pretty good. Notable exceptions being Reggie Bush that we really could leave out of the "RB" discussion if we really wanted to.

And in the "2005" guys... Ronnie Brown did rush for 900 yards twice, not great but, not terrible, and split time with some other good guys. (Stoned Ricky Williams for one)

Cedric Benson didn't get to start, mostly because of the previously listed Thomas Jones. (Well, that and he was stoned, not Jones)

Cadillac Williams, well... was a Buccaneer. (Dunno if Cadillac liked to get stoned, but, playing in TB, who could blame him)

For the record, the Giants super bowl winning tandem of RBs were taken in the 4th and 7th rounds.

I think it boils down to evaluating talent... But the Browns gave up their chance to do that in later rounds this year by trading up one spot. Not that it would matter anyways... I have been hoping the Browns drafting would improve under new management but that is seemingly getting less and less likely.

They may have improved somewhat in recent years, but that isn't saying much.

The odds that Weeden is better than anyone on this list have to be decent, right?

WR has to be the next pick, correct? Stephen Hill, Alshon Jeffrey and Reuben Randle seem to be the best available. One of them will likely be gone when the Rams pick at #33.

Go receiver at 37, then you still have a swing gate at RT. Weeden was just a horribly short sighted move. Unbelievably dumb.

If they were really building towards something long term, they take the T or G at 22 to help Richardson, address WR at 37. Let Colt have one more shot. If he fails, which is admittedly is quite likely, you take a YOUNG QB in the Top-5 next spring...hell, maybe Barkley #1 overall.

Weeden is the 3rd is fine, I could've got behind that. If he wasn't there, so what? This is just so galactically stupid, it almost feels like self sabotage. I didn't think it was possible, but it makes me hate Lerner even more, may his balls shrivel and fall off in his sleep.

"We went through the process of evaluating him, we became very fond of him," Browns coach Pat Shurmur said. "We all did, from Randy [Lerner, owner] to Mike [Holmgren, team president] to Tom [Heckert, general manager] to myself. I came away saying this is a guy we'd like to have on our team. That's where we're at right now."

It was interesting that Shurmur pointed out that the owner had input on this decision. The pressure is on, and the clock is ticking.

Shurmur doesn't come right out and say it, but you don't bring up the owner's influence in the decision (as the first name mentioned) unless you are looking to plausibly deny your involvement in such blatant stupidity. I mean, once Shurmur is fired after this year, he's going to be asked questions about this pick. I'm sure he'll be putting the blame on Lerner during interviews. All of these guys need to start planning for their next jobs.

Too bad we're still going to be stuck with Lerner - who is quickly becoming the worst owner in the NFL.

They also danced around the national championship opportunities. Weeden has beeter overall numbers. Maybe he'll have one or two Pro Bowl years. Maybe.

I hope you're being facetious, because those numbers aren't similar in any sense of the word. Weeden had almost 20 points on DA in completion percentage and 35 points on him in rating, not to mention the TD/INT ratio. Any reason you chose DA to compare against Weeden?
