Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

some people just have more tangential evidence to support their side. :)

The only real evidence any of us need, is the fact that Holmgren and Heckert thought it was a good idea to bring Jake Delhomme in and that he'd be a good QB. He was just coming off a bad season and injury according to them...

Now we're supposed buy in on a 29 year old rookie QB, while we throw him to wolves against the hardest schedule in the league without any weapons at wideout, unless you consider the project that is Gregg Little a good weapon.

Sounds like a fantastic recipe for success.

I get this vision of other AFC North franchises watching our draft with popcorn and laughing hysterically at the television as we remain an embarassment to NFL football.

Now that's not fair. They also brought in Seneca Wallace and Colt McCoy. Holmgren drafted David Greene back when he was the GM for the Seahwaks. Heckert drafted Kevin Kolb.

I mean, these guys know quarterbacks. Just not any good ones.

Why don't you guys just wait to see how the drafted players perform
before jumping off the innerbelt bridge. Some of you crybabies would bitch
regardless of who they drafted.

I'd hate to see some of you assholes if they Buckeyes had a few bad years (yes, I know its more than a few in Cle.).

Even if the Browns did get duped into trading picks to get up to the third selection, they really could not take the chance that there were no other offers that Minnesota was listening to. They had to make sure that they got Richardson.

With regard to Hughes, the only real problem I have with that pick is that it is not a position of need for the Browns because of Taylor and Rubin. However, those guys were really getting worn out by playing so many downs last season.

I have no quarrel with this. I think Richardson is a game changer and they had to guarantee that they got him. Giving up a 4, 6, and 7 is nothing to get your franchise running back.

I liked many of the UFA prospects as much as the 6th & 7th rounders.

To me, the question is whether you'd give up a shot at Kirk Cousins, Joe Adams, Chris Givens, Orson Charles for protection against losing Richardson. As long as he pans out, I think most organizations make that move.

Take that nonsense to the poli-board, splinter dick

That's is simply a terrible post and there are clearly no facts to support that allegation. Unless you've spoken with Mrs. Katt.....in which case, she's a compulsive liar.

I don't have an issue with the Richardson pick...he's a great player and the the safest pick in the draft, IMO.

It was rounds 2-7 that were just awful...and honestly, rounds 2-7 is where good GM's make hay. I don't agree that the Browns have been drafting that well under Heckert/Holmgren.

Sure they took Haden which was a no-brainer, IMO, and Ward is panning out. But I'm just not sold on a lot these guys...I really feel like they are constantly trying to out-think the room and are really just consistently passing up the best value and players in the draft. Phil Taylor is still up in the air to me, and Sheard was a good pick. But you look at the value and some of the guys sitting there to be had, we let those players go, and then watch as Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Baltimore, etc. pick them up.

I love the way KC, Tampa, and for a long time Pittsburgh handle their drafts. Safe value picks on guys who come from established programs where they can get great intel based on their scouting departments.

Some of the later round picks like a Cyrus Grey, Sean Spence, Mike Adams, Chris Rainey, Lavonte David.....those are exceptional values. Sean Spence was taken in the third round and will probably be a 10 year starter for Pittsburgh once he gets the system down...The same can be said for Lavonte David. John Hughes will be lucky to sniff the field...

I don't get it. Trading up for a broken down RB 3 years ago...some of the no-names from West Missouri Valley State, when solidified kids who play good football are right there for the taking. It's frustrating...

Two things stand true about the Browns draft:

1) It's over and done with, the front office did the fans of Cleveland and the team a disservice. Set the franchise back another 1-2 years of fielding a playoff team.

2) Not to compliment any of you, because...well...your Browns fans (myself included). But any single one of us could have done this draft on behalf of the front office and came out with an "A" grade with or without Trent Richardson in the equation. In addition, we could have signed at least ONE decent FA at a position of need.

Oh and by the way, if this team wins THREE games this year, I will be stunned. Brutal schedule.

I hear Bollman has been brought on to coach the offensive line. Something about a double Walrus effect.

Sorry, just wanted to send the board over the edge. A general rule I live by is that any decision the Browns office makes, it's a bad idea until proven otherwise. Makes it much easier to live.
