Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

it was reported on wknr (the bruce hooley station of the browns) yesterday that the saints were all set to take hughes 2 picks after cleveland, and pittsburgh was going to take him in the 4th instead of the fat injured samoan.

atlanta's beat writer came out and said point blank that atlanta was taking schwartz in the 2nd and even looked to trade up to do so.

i guess the melters in this thread need to take issue with some other nfl front offices as well.

Yes, just like Tampa/St Louis was going to trade up for Trich, and someone was going to trade up to take Weeden. Speculation is nice to drum up support for (I'll be generous) questionable decisions. In the end we'll never know, but we could have used someone else in the 3rd round other than a DL, and yep just checked we picked before the steelers in the 4th.

just like with recruiting ... scouting is about who you ask and when you ask the question, its subjective, and I'm sure most front office people like to think (and most prolly are) smarter than the prognosticators. That said at this point PR takes over its about saying whatever you have to placate your fan base and try and keep the media off of you.

I was waiting for the rumor to leak that someone was about to move in front of Cleveland for Hughes. I'm surprised it took this long....

wknr hate cleveland. they bash the browns front office constantly. wknr will be the last place doing damage control for the browns.

also, spielman was on minny radio just yesterday and said that they had multiple offers for the #3 pick. it's on pft's website right now.

sorry to burst the melting bubble.

:slappy: good one. Sorry dude go back to sippin your Kool-aid.

radio stations will do anything for $ and for ratings.

Whats Spielman suppose to say "oh yeah I fleeced Cleveland" ... not if he ever wants to make trades again.

Lets just agree to disagree and we'll bring this conversation about how awesome the Browns draft was in December.

wknr's entire shtick is bashing the browns. it's what they do. them saying cleveland made a good decision is akin to bruce hooley praising TP and JT. it just doesn't happen. if you'd ever listened to the station once you'd know this. but, it goes against your whine fest, so I understand why you don't want to accept it.

why is spielman going to lie about having multiple offers? he's not. it's not a coincidence that tampa trades out of #5 before the #4 pick is even made and then trades back up for a 2nd tier rb later in the first round.

i get that people got mad because cleveland didn't draft who they wanted. but the total lack of common sense in this thread to justify cleveland supposedly draft failure is baffling.

Wait, so now you're believing what you hear on the radio?

what's funny is that if wknr had come out and stated that there was no real trade offer and cleveland got duped, the melters here would have been treating it as gospel.

secondly, wknr reported it, after it was tweeted by a beat reporter, it wasn't "their sources".

You guys do realize none of this matters...right? If the Browns had drafted Payton Manning, he'd have been the next Tim couch.

Don't get mad at me. I'm just a simple Arizona Cardinals fan.
The Browns did draft Peyton Manning. They were just called the Colts, and reside in Indianapolis. It was just as shitty of a franchise...if not more so.

Long and short of it for both sides: people believe what they read and/or hear when it agrees with what they already believe.
