Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Am I the only one who much prefers Tyler Wilson (or Aaron Murray) to Barkley?

Heck, I actually like Tyler Bray a lil.

But it is all-in on the Robert Woods train since there is no way the Browns will pick a QB next year... since that would mean they made a mistake picking Weeden at #22 :sad2:

Wait just a second... I have had an epiphany... We suck so bad and we get the #1 pick. Since we picked Weeden last year the Browns announce they are going to have an open auction to trade the #1 pick to whomever wants Barkley.

Of course the Browns get a bad deal in the trade and Barkley goes on to win the Super Bowl... wait... must stop thinking bad thoughts. We trade the pick and get a bounty of picks... and they bungle THOSE picks... wait... must stop thinking bad thoughts. We trade the pick, get a crazy amount of picks and actually make the correct choices and get a bunch of studs... who have their knees blown out within the 1st season... wait... no more bad thoughts.

Awwww, who am I kidding. We'll end up with the 6th pick and watch all the QBs go before us and any stud WRs that are in the draft will go before us and have to reach for an offensive player/pick defense/ or trade down.

another 24 hours later I'm still noodling the Browns draft....

Richardson - some say he was an obvious choice. Well, if he was so obvious that means he was important to get for the Browns. They ensured they got him by trading up. It wasn't pretty, but they got him. A stud running game can take a lot of heat off of a rookie QB....that happens to have a very strong arm.

Hughes - alright, this is a head scratcher AT BEST. Adding depth at DT is still never a bad idea. I don't think it was the F- that some say, but it was probably a C-.

The rest of them are OK to decent. As I said, if the Browns can get 2 immediate starters from this draft and 4 total players that last at least 4 years, that is positive.

There are very few QBs that are franchise QBs that merit top 5 draft picks. Weeden wasn't one.....but then again they got him at #22. My Chiefs are still standing around with their you-know-whats in their hand wondering why Peyton Manning didn't come and why they are still starting Matt Cassell. But they didn't panic and draft a non-game changer at #11 and thus waste the pick.

People say it's a passing league....but absent a stud QB, a stud RB will create a lot of softness in a defense.

I guess there were rumors about the Browns trying to trade up in the first round to try to get one of the receivers ... guess noone wanted our 2nd or 3rd round picks or likely weren't offered

interesting this is from WFNY

Tom Heckert’s body language to me indicated that it was a frustrating weekend. I am just guessing on this, but when Terry Pluto asked his question about the 5th-6th round rating on John Hughes, Heckert was completely dismissive and basically rolled his eyes. After hearing rumors that the Browns tried to trade up from #22 to secure one of the top wide receivers before selecting Brandon Weeden, it is reasonable to assume that he just didn’t get things to fall his way this weekend. At least not enough. This doesn’t mean it is a bad draft, but it might mean that the Browns ended up being disappointed that they didn’t do better.

again just reading this... it seems that once one of their guys were taken the whole game plan went out the window and the dart board was brought out. If plan A,B,C,D,E,F...Y fail.. I hope to hell (since you've had since DECEMBER to look at most of these kids) you'd have plan Z ready..

Not even sure the Browns had a plan B. It seems to me that the scouting was weak for the franchise this year; like they had certain targeted players they wanted, but when they weren't there, they ad-libbed and ended up taking other targeted players too early. This is why YOU SCOUT EVERYBODY.

Somehow, somewhere, put me down as (overall) liking this draft. I'm hoping the guard they took in a later round works out well. The 2nd round tackle will play, because the Browns suck. Go down the list and say that after every draft pick, they will help the Browns be a better team in 2 years.

this is the dumbest [Mark May] ive ever heard in my entire life

This is the most hyperbolic post I've ever read in my life.

Kool-Aid drinkers only ones thinking this franchise is going in the right direction. No one else agrees.

EDIT: Not one to shy away from my bold statements, I again propose that if this team wins more than 4 games this year, I won't post for a year. Any Kool-Aid drinkers up for the bet?
