I can't really remember how he did as strictly a DC with the Cowboys but it's possible that he got over his head when he tried to become an HC at the college level.

cowboys made the playoffs twice while he was there and won the superbowl in 92 with him as DC....he went on to coach the bears after that in 93...i guess the main reason i dont want wannstedt as DC is because of his stache...thats pretty much it

You know what really sucks about being a Browns fan?

Watching historically "average" franchises rise up year after year and go far into the playoffs, while we struggle to even make it into the playoffs for the last decade.

Teams that have been to the AFC or NFC Championship Game in the last 8 or so years -
Jets, Chargers, Tennessee, Raiders, Saints, Seahawks, Eagles, Cardinals, Carolina, Falcons, Tampa Bay

That's 11 teams that had their days in the sun after they collected tons of losing seasons.

When are we going to get our reward for sitting through 2 year coaching cycles, and all the other stuff we have been through?????

dont know much about this guy or how i feel about this...i guess i dont really care...was luke-warm with the shumur hire so every coordinator hire will be the same...i just want the browns to win and im just thankful we have holmgren and heckert

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the Browns are likely to name Falcons assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave their offensive coordinator.
La Canfora writes that other teams don't expect to get the chance to interview Musgrave because they anticipate him getting the Browns job. Musgrave is scheduled to interview with the Vikings Wednesday, but it appears that might not happen. New coach Pat Shurmur is expected to at least initially call the offensive plays for the Browns, so Musgrave's responsibilities would be limited in Cleveland.

Well, let's see, the last 2 times he was an OC at the NFL level, George Siefert embarrassed him in front of the locker room and he quit, and then he was OC for some awful Jacksonville offenses and he was fired. Yeah, seems pretty much in line for the Browns :shake:

Actually, I'm overjoyed that the Browns will have an offensive coordinator that is at least capable of feeling embarrassment. That's a tremendous leap for this organization.

he was mularkey's heir apparent in atlanta. he won't be calling plays for cleveland. it's hard to find any bona fide OC when that guy doesn't get to call the plays. given such, this is about as good of a hire as they're going to get.

I agree regarding the fact that they are not going to get a full-blown OC when he is not going to call the plays but it is possible that they might be bringing him in to help develop McCoy since he did such a nice job with Ryan. He could learn his playcalling for a year or two under Sh?rmer.

#Browns OC candidate Bill Musgrave did make the trip to Minnesota to interview for Vikings OC job today, league source told PD.#nfl
I don't know if he left Cleveland without the job he might not be coming back. Other names being banshees about our Jim Zorn:( and Nolan Cromwell. Both have worked under Holmgren.

Musgrave has done a pretty damn good job with Matt Ryan so if he can do the same thing here I don't think anyone will be complaining. With all of the emphasis on the offense let's just hope we can get someone solid to run the defense or we could end up looking like Dick Wod's ex-team.
