So we hired an OC from a sub .500 team that didnt make the PLayoffs? Superbowl this year?

Well, considering he had a rookie QB, no backup RB, and a series of receivers who should have been playing in the UFL...he did a pretty decent job, and he'll fit right in here.

The guy was part of a coaching staff that took a doormat from 1-15 to the doorstep of the playoffs with talent on-par with the Browns. He's a bright young guy. I'm willing to give him a shot. At least he's not another AFC East retread.

Im not saying, o fuck this. Just wondering why and what expected.

Ill take LLoyd Carr at this point if he can beat the Steelers and win a playoff game or 2 every year.

The Rams improved from 1-15 to 7-9 while playing a rookie QB. That's a pretty good leap in one season.

The 1989 Cowboys were 1-15. They went 7-9 in 1990, 11-5 in 1991, and won the SB in 92 and 93. Just sayin'. :wink2:

Why get rid of Ryan? Dumb move. Wow.

It sounds to me like Ryan doesn't want to be there.

Ryan has been "out of the mix and out of the office despite being under contract."

Jake nailed it.

It might be for the best too. I really enjoyed watching Ryan's defense, what he was able to do with less than stellar parts. I enjoyed watching him on the sidelines. However, over the course of this season, shortly after beating NO and NE in back-to-back games, I think Ryan may have gotten a little too full of himself. He did say during the season that he expected to be a head coach next year. Seriously, why would anyone say that during a current season?!? What message does that send to the team you are currently coaching?

I think that Ryan may think more highly of his abilities than the rest of the NFL does. He was never invited back for a second interview for the Carolina vacancy. Has he even been interviewed for any other vacancies?

Maybe this type of "arrogance" should leave Berea.

As for Shurmur...he needs to now get a decent staff together. I think the front office is in place and hopefully he has success with the Browns. Looking to see who he hires for OC and DC will be key and then watching the off season and our version of the Super Bowl (the draft) will hopefully get some enthusiasm going again in the off season.
