Had to have been Quinn and a first and maybe more. Looking at what Denver got from Chicago, no way Quinn was worth that much to them. A team traded a potential franchise QB and a lot of people thought they won the trade.

I believe it was Quinn and a first. Dumb move by cleveland...Hmm,seems like i've said that before.

Like I said, there will be teams interested with a young QB (Quinn) in a bad situation (Browns roster) ... I wasn't surprised we we're shopping him, but to get a fullback (a damn fine FB at that) and a 6th round pick just seems - well, paticularly shitty. Couldn't at least get a 4th-5th rounder and maybe go after a position of need?

Unless its 3rd and (very)short, where is Hillis going to contribute? We have a great blocking/pass catching FB in Vickers last I checked.

Hillis is very athletic for his size. His pass catching ability is some of the best in the league for a fullback. He is a great player, but not worth giving up what cleveland gave up.

Keep in mind that Hillis was originally a 5th string tailback who seen PT only after a slew of injuries to pretty much every tailback they had. He is very tough. I believe he even seen time returning punts.

Once the Browns signed Delhomme the writing was on the wall that Quinn would be traded. I did not expect to get much for him and they did not. All the GM's in the league saw the writing on the wall and the Browns had no leverage in getting much value. Now it is time for Holmgren and company to find a young signal caller in the draft the develop him.
Wimbley was a solid player here and had his up's and down's. The Browns must feel that with their schemes and the versatility that they have in linebacking group that they will be fine without him. This team by no means is a playoff team and its apparent Holmgren wants to make this his team. That is fine just give us some results in the coming years.

Cleveland gave up a backup QB with an average arm and below average accuracy. I don't have a problem with this trade. They got Wallace, who I consider an upgrade from Quinn, for a 6th or 7th rounder. So to think they upgraded their backup QB postion, picked up a RB/FB I really like and added an extra pick in the process, I don't see what's not to like. The fact that Quinn was a 1st round pick is irrelevant, at this point it's considered a sunk-cost.

I've seen nothing from Wallace to think he's an upgrade to any situation. It's really hard to evaluate qb's when their only experience is based in cleveland. I don't think Quinn is a world beater by any means. Just basing it off the fact of what Denver has,and what they had to get rid of. I still feel Quinn has potential.Even if he is a backup it's an upgrade from Chris Simms. Denver gained more in this trade IMO.

Another thought on this move, is that Holmgren is definitely going to be making the offense more of a west coast look. On top of this there is a rumor that Vickers could be the next to be moved because he does not "fit" the west coast system.

Really? There's usually a reason that QB ended up in Cleveland in the first place.

And yes, Wallace is an upgrade over Quinn. Wallace managed an 81.9 rating in 78 attempts for a 5-win team. Quinn only had a 67.2 rating in 136 attempts for a 5-win team.

I am almost at a loss for words. What the hell is this team doing? I don't understand any of these moves that they are making especially trading a player like Wimbley and getting a 3rd rounder for him. I didn't realize wimbley was a problem on the defense. Someone needs to tell the front office that just because we have a gazillion picks doesn't amount to much when there just going to screw up the draft anyway. :smash:

Captain Checkdown ruined whatever trade value he had last season by constantly peeing down his leg when sensing the first hint of pressure. That's ingrained...not a correctable problem.

Wimbley has made no progress, in fact, he has regressed, since his rookie season. If Rob Ryan can't get him to improve, he ain't all that good.

I'm very "meh" about these moves. I don't think they hurt, I don't think they help all that much.

Not upset they got rid of Quinn... just upset it took long to only get so little. I never thought he would amount to much in Cleveland anyway, but I'm not confident he was given a legitmate chance either.

Strange tenure for Quinn in Cleveland.

Seattle also had a better receiving corp..Quinn will fit in mcdaniels system, and could possibly develop into a much better quarterback...How much development can Wallace really make? He's been in the league twice as long as Quinn and hasn't accomplished much of anything. I guess time will tell. I'll be anxious to see what Wallace can do,but definitely have my doubts.

:so:

The receiving CORPS doesn't matter as much as the guy throwing the ball on a 5-11 team

Quinn is barely an NFL QB. That has been shown repeatedly. He is mediocre at best in his decision making, he's not accurate, he can't throw downfield and he is immobile.

Wallace has been behind a good QB for years.

Quinn was behind DA. :slappy:

Yeah I completely see a correlation.

Hey everyone, I think the KING has returned

Really..You just quoted that because I added the letter "s"..Wow,your life must be exciting. Congrats on that.Hopefully, your internet acceptance is fulfilled. Wallace is shit..Will be shit at the end of this year, and cleveland will be looking for the newest replacement for the shit role.
